I decided to gift myself some gorgeous pairs of earrings from MAYA. I used to shop there when it was in Boston and now runs online and off of Cincinnati, OH so I’m in luck again. In these depressing times of isolation, I was so excited to get something beautiful in the mail, that someone took the time to wrap with care and attention just for me, from the fúcsia packaging to the silver pieces everything was gorgeous. They have a huge selection of jewelry and crafts from Guatemala where the owner is from, but also handwoven textiles, ceramic ornaments and handmade jewelry by Native American Navajo and Zuni artists, and by Mexican designers. The best part of the Order was a beautiful present for my little son, a beautiful and delicate handpainted colorful hummingbird that made us all smile. I was walking by Maya the other day and was instantly smitten! They were already closed for the day but that didn’t stop me from window shopping!
