Motif — Local services in City of New Rochelle

We are happy with our decision to stay at Motif. It is generally peaceful and does not feel like a thoroughfare like some other properties. We’re towards the end of our lease and will be renewing…most likely. We toured a lot and like Motif the most. It checks all the right boxes.

The property is tastefully designed and the music and air fresheners in the lobby create a welcoming and classy ambiance for returning home. It has all the amenities we want in a property (I don’t miss that there’s no swimming pool). We particularly like that it has its own garage. Other properties we considered either had no parking or shared parking with other properties. That’s risky business if the two property owners fall out. Another very tempting property lost our interest because they have valet parking which we’re not prepared to wait on for those days we need to get somewhere in a hurry. The attendant there admitted that at worst it could take 20 to 30 mins to get your car.

The property location is great for commuting. It’s near the exit to the highway and the train station. We are not affected by noise from traffic or the train. Oh, there seems to be a Fire House nearby which is the only source of noise from outdoors but it’s not frequent. The upside, is the quick response time when someone trips the fire alarm with their cooking which has happened only three times so far.

Yes, there are pet stenches sometimes but maintenance does a great job of keeping up with cleaning. The Super “Mike” takes the charge with this. He walks around making sure everything is in check. I actually once witnessed him taking a photo of some urine stains in the elevator (poor pet couldn’t hold it any longer). Whenever we’ve had issues with our unit, Mike and E have given us same-day service. The only time we didn’t get a problem fixed the same day was when they had to wait on the external window company to come in to fix a window. Mike is very knowledgeable and great at diagnosing problems. Mike and E moved to other locations and were just as happy with their replacement.

Staff are all friendly, helpful and professional. These are the qualities you want in people you have to interact with ‘at home’. Greystar knows how to pick great staff because Huma, who replaced Ashley, is also great to deal with and has quickly become a welcome addition to the Motif family. By the way, Matt has a lot of patience: lol. He’s gonna see this review and say, “So he writes as long as he talks!” Lol

Recently the city banned street parking which has affected unit owners who didn’t get garage parking, and occasional guests. If you plan to rent here and are lucky to be offered assigned parking you should take it. Persons who park in the Montefiere parking lot next door risk getting their vehicle clamped. It has happened before.

The negatives come with apartment living: eg food scents from other units and barking dogs. We’re not affected by barking but I will advise that if you hear barking while passing a unit when you’re touring do not take that for granted unless barking is music to your ears. Early in our stay we had to deal with “weed” stenches coming into our unit. It still happens from time to time. Sometimes there is unbearable odor in the elevators.

The walls are not paper thin like some other properties. Once we’re in our unit the experience is quite serene.

The Bosch laundry dryer does not operate like any other dryer we’ve used. Bosch makes good car parts but suck at dryers. It’s like the sensor does not work to keep the dryer running until clothes are dry so using the auto settings is useless. We were advised to time-dry for 2 hours, avoid dryer sheets and leave the laundry room door open. These...

I can’t say enough positive things about this complex and the people who work here Nate, Matt, Huma and Anastasios. They have made our life here so easy. And we feel like we lived in a resort. There’s no way anyone could be bored living here. A special shout out to the super ANASTASIOS. He is a very professional, helpful, friendly, and quick to find solutions when issues arise. Maintenance requests are completed within one-two-three. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help you. Thank you for being here and making this place feel like home! So much GRATITUDE!

I would like to say that Matthew Carver, Community Manager has gone above and beyond to represent a resident service coordinator at the Motif. He is always available to assist and provide services for anything that needs attention. The knowledge that he provides is valuable and easily accessible. He’s polite and respectful. There is nothing that I can say about him that is more important for a person in his position! I’m happy that he’s here at the Motif, he’s a precious commodity.

On the same note I have to send out another accommodation to Huma that is also a very important part of the leasing team at the Motif. She shows how knowledgeable she is about any questions you have. She is truly a wonderful team member here. Very professional, helpful, friendly and dedicated to her work.

The Motif Staff have brought so much joy and created a "home away from a home" experience for us. We are so thankful to the team for making this past year so special!!!

My stay at motif is coming to an end but I just wanted to leave a perspective from my experience: First and foremost Anastasis (Maintenance Super) has been an incredible maintenance super—reliable, friendly, and always professional. Whenever something went wrong in the apartment, I knew I could count on him to respond quickly and take care of the issue thoroughly. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, and never cuts corners. It gave me real peace of mind knowing someone as capable as Anastasi was overseeing the building’s maintenance. He truly went above and beyond, and I’m very grateful for his work.

Nathan is the buildings other (Maintenance super). He is always pleasant to deal with, on time and accomplishes the job without any hassle. I can’t stress enough how important a building’s maintenance team is. Anastasis and Nathan are a dream team!! ⸻

Living at the Motif in New Rochelle was a wonderful experience. We had a spacious, comfortable living environment that felt both modern and cozy.
