Sexist and Racist Management- Went very recently(3/12/17) with my mother(a disabled USA veteran). We shopped normally browsing and selecting our items. Proceeded to check out. Everything fairly normal. My mother was before me. As her things made it's way down the conveyor belt to be scanned she informed the cashier(who we now know is the STORE MANAGER)that she would be paying split tender(to seperate forms of payment)She let him know that she would first pay with the balance on her card and the remainder"my daughter would pick up". I was standing directly behind her waiting also to check out. The manager(and only active cashier person)who's name is Tom began to scam and slam the items. My mom was a bit shaken and taken back. She just sighed then he turns and says in the most dry and curt tone to "swipe now". As she did she couldn't see the initial prompt. She asked him for assistance he repeated again a bit more hostility "I told you to swipe". She told him she understood but needed to make sure the split tender was factored in. With the same steam Tom "I said swipe, I heard you". He finished flinging the items in the bag and the card portion was accepted. He then let's her know she still has a balance. I stepped up and handed him the cash. Hoping to get out as soon as possible. My mother is shaken and the rest of the customers on line and now looking uncomfortable for us. I say this because of the "wow" that followed the hostile behavior. He tosses the change in my hand and no begins to scan n slam my items. I paid cash. He SNATCHED the money from my hand and now im at a loss. On instinct getting the change I thanked him. He smirked. I shook my head and picked up my bags to turn and leave. I hear him say "yea thats how they are" I turned and asked him if he was referring to us. He told me "yea i was". I asked him what made him think it was ok to treat my mother(not even myself)as he did. He told me thats how he feels. MIND YOU this is the ONLY open register and he now stopped the line to continue to be disrespectful. I told him it's not ok to antagonize someone who has NO issue with you. He now screaming let me know he heard murmuring and he will talk to whom ever as he pleases. I asked him for a supervisors contact information. He let me know he "runs this store"and is all of Management. I asked for another contact person or district manager information. He told me there was none and if I wanted to file a complaint I just did. At this point my mom is mortified and on the brink of a breakdown. I asked him for his name. Read moreAwful. Workers harass you every minute from 9:30 thru 10pm when they are closing to leave the store when you are trying to hurry and get your items. It is non stop. Then they tell you they are tired and worked all day and want to go home. Unbelievable. If I did that at my job and told customers I was tired and want to go home I would very fired. Amazing. If you don't harass customers every minute they might actually be able to get out on time without the added stress. What happened to treating customers nicely? Read moreI found this store, clean, well stocked. There is a great variety of items to choose from. The main reason I am writing this is because of the employees that work there. They were more than kind, friendly and helpful. It makes you want to go back to shop. You felt that your business was truly appreciated. I spoke to the manager and told her how helpful her employees were. One of the things I appreciated as well, was that everything was in fact a dollar!
