One of the worst trade in experiences I have had. I wanted to conduct an experiment between this place and another in town. Larger than life should stick to cards and comics. Overall they are great with transactional trading cards but video games should be left to places like micro game and voltage. I did a nice sized bulk Pokémon trade in at Larger than Life yesterday and bought a GameCube (loose) with the $125, yes $125 I got for my cards. Let me repeat that $125 for a GameCube black with a GameStop controller (busted). I confronted them about the price of an AGS 001 SP $129 as well, (yes geez) that I also was interested in, I also bought it. I subsequently inspected both consoles that were CAKED WITH DUST. Like DK oldies caked (iykyk). Now these consoles were worth what like $80-$90 each would be fairly priced. Well they knocked the SP down to $115 after telling them I bought one across town at another shop for $79, and they were pricing their things from an uneducated or dishonest standpoint. Then I get the SP home and the charger is busted, will not charge the console. Good thing the $79 one from the other place came with a working charger and clean screen (no floaters). So I straight up sold that POS game cube for $30 immediately due to its faulty nature, I paid in store credit and lacked a reciept. Zero respect for their customers. I’m so glad I decided to do this today with that credit and I hope they stop scamming children. Please stay away. Buy eBay and elsewhere. This industry is dead for the little guys, especially with this happening. Very condescending group too. Not the easiest to ask questions to about their shady business practices. You guys suck terribly at...
Read moreterrible customer service, ive been a regular here for several months only to constantly see and hear of people having terrible expierences being scammed and taken for their money. ive witnessed managers scamming parents out of their money or the poor attitude they have towards customers, when i asked if theres any one who i can voice my concerns to i was just laughed at. if you intend to buy anything from this seller please make sure to check the quality of the items they are selling before giving them any money.
edit: i like how you say this doesnt reflect your core values and beliefs but both of your store managers are responsible for these actions, you can see other reviews of people saying that they're very rude and talk badly about the customers in the store, you're definitely scamming people when you don't let them test items or even look at them before they buy them.
also you say to get in touch with an owner but you leave no contact information? i wonder why, almost like you have no desire to take accountability and you know exactly how terrible the employees in this store are.
the amount of inappropriate things i've seen coming here made me so upset i can't even return to the store in clay. i've been a frequent customer here for years too and for the amount of revenue myself and other customers have contributed to your business, i think we deserve a little more respect than...
Read moreAll modern figures in this place are priced based on ebay sold listings, even stuff that's currently available at retail. I 100% understand using after market prices for stuff that's no longer in production but still sought after. Star Wars Black Series currently available through other online outlets at $19.99 - $22.99, this place wants $40 - $50+ for. When I asked the guy behind the counter said "Well we aren't the same as Big Bad Toy Store. We have to pay more for our inventory". Go try that BS with someone who started collecting yesterday. This place is operated by scalpers. Period. What a joke.
I'll drive all the way back out there tomorrow to purchase the figures I need. I'm even willing to go a little above current retail, say $26.99 per figure, and spend at least $100.....but I'm not paying $49.99 for a figure that's going to have a release at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Game Stop locally. Not to mention various e-retailers like Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store, Dork Side Toys, Amazon and several others. If it's that important for you to get top dollar and price gouge, just sit on your inventory for a few months when you get it, wait for it to no longer be readily available, and then ask market prices.
If that's agreeable I'll change this review and leave a 5 star positive one. I get the hustle. I understand profit margins.....But the way this is being...
