We arrived at the restaurant quite tired. I am a wheelchair user and my fiancé is disabled but ambulatory and we were looking forward to sitting down. We waited at the entrance to be seated. There were only a few customers with many tables open. After a couple of minutes someone pointed out to one of the staff that we were there, but no one came to talk to us. A couple of minutes later another member of the public came to the "order here" point and the staff member asked if they wanted to order something. They said no, that they just wanted them to seat us. The staff member said nothing and walked away. A couple of minutes later a different staff member called across the restaurant and asked how many people we were, which we replied 4. That staff member then walked away and started getting stock out without explaining anything.
At this point we were all in a lot of pain. Our kids were very tired and wanted to sit down. After a couple more minutes of waiting I spoke up and called out to ask to please be seated, trying to explain that we were in pain. The staff member waved a cloth at me and asked if I "want to sit at a dirty table or wait for it to be cleaned" - given that we had already been waiting a long time, and there were visibly clean tables already, the rudeness and sheer audacity of this reply was just beyond what I could endure and we left rather than getting into an argument.
I am beyond sickened by the sheer lack of care the two staff members I could see showed. Given how slow business was, the idea that after waiting 10 minutes that they then claimed that we are being unreasonable is...
Read moreOn a recent weeknight, my granddaughter and I decided to get dinner here. Despite there being tables available, we had to wait several minutes for vacated tables to be cleared. Once seated, the waiter was attentive and took our order. Then we waited and waited for our food to arrive. Every time I saw the cook prepare plates to be served, I thought that has to be ours but those orders went to other tables. My granddaughter enjoyed her burger and shake once they arrived. My burger was okay but nothing special. While we ate our dinner, 2 girls arrived and waited to be seated. The waiter acknowledged them but then proceeded to perform tasks that did not require immediate attention. The female water completely ignored the waiting customers and spent time chitchatting with the cook. I could not believe the patience the 2 waiting girls displayed while being ignored. When our waiter came over to our table, I pointed the girls out to him and mentioned they had been waiting for a long time to be seated. He continued to ignore them. I could not believe it. I kept telling my granddaughter that I would have walked away by now every few minutes. FINALLY they did! Good for them! I hope they found a restaurant that wanted them...
Read moreJohnny Rockets still has a Milkshake that is hard to beat!
During a recent trip to Syracuse we stopped in to Johnny Rockets for lunch while walking around the mall. During our visit the establishment was not busy.
Johnny Rockets is an old school style diner that serves up mid-tier food, in the sense that it is of somewhat better quality than most fast food but really falls short compared to local business Pub & Grills. These types of restaurants are a hard sell nowadays with the rising costs of food putting them in an awkward spot between those other two options, typically making the alternatives look like the better choice. I'll admit that our visit to Johnny Rockets on this trip was certainly made more on nostalgia sake.
That's not to say the food at Johnny Rockets isn't good, it is perfectly adequate. We ordered a couple burgers and an order of fries on our visit and we were happy with what we got. I ordered a milkshake as well, and to this day I believe Johnny Rockets has one of the better milkshakes out there.
Overall I'm sure we will end up at Johnny Rockets again at some point. Perfectly adequate has it's place, it's just not somewhere we would frequent over...
