I'd give it a -2 if possible the gym equipment, and people attending the gym and staff are ok but I don't know if it's management or housekeeping or probably both, more than likely mostly management because the bathroom is the dirtiest and most smelly disgusting place on earth equivalent to a sanitation public bathroom.
These pictures show the horrific disgusting showers they smell like garbage the third stall has still water by the drain as you can see in the pictures. The showers all of them have mold and mildew if you look the soap dispenser is broken I went to take a shower and there was a used bar of soap stuck inside the dispenser. As for the first stall the dispenser is completely broken off, the second stall it's missing the top piece and soap.
I was too afraid to venture in and wash in another stall but the second one. I brought my own body wash. The curtains are moldy and you definitely don't want the curtain to accidentally touch your body it's skeevie. The walls inside are moldy and have old splashed dry soap all over them and the soap dish has remnants of caked up soap in them.
You can see the urinals and discolored urine on the floors on the toilet both the urinal and toilet. The sinks are disgusting splashed water every just in to sitting on the sink. It smells like mildew stinky and filthy on there it's like they say "hey they're men they didn't care how it smells when they wash" .... Need flash we do if this is where my dues are going man on outta here I've only encountered two other gyms in NYC like this and I left had review as well.
These places don't care about it's members of they did the place to clean up would be clean and be sanitary to actually use without fear of staph infection. If management cared they get the housekeeping better supplies and the showers would get fixed including the drain that doesn't drain the water and it sits still by the stall.
All in all the rating for the gym is 3 they could use better equipment and dumbbells selection. The staff 5+ The atmosphere is ok people are ummm gym people, like the ac only works in the front of the facility and not by the equipment. Feels like you're breathing in hot air when you're doing cardio and lifting in general. The circulation is POOR. Very!!! Housekeeping is-2 can't be all their fault because they can only do what is given and it's clear they aren't given anything because the broken pieces in the bathroom and moldy walls and curtains wouldn't be their fault. The drains just don't work.
Sorry this was such a long winded post but I've been meaning to write this review all week and have been swamped with work, but after today's shower I had to make sure it was done. In any case you'll like the gym but just don't try to wash here.
The onus falls on the owner and management they aren't addressing no issues like in the gym at all. They should just sell it or fire themselves. Give someone a chance to run it and maybe address the issues.
Just went back this morning 8/23 open the locker guess what I see?? Bugs ....yep roaches in the locker. That's it !! I'm done I will be looking for another gym this one has jumped the shark. They clearly don't care here and it's beyond dirty....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHere's my take. I went there before Covid and it was a different setup before they've moved everything around; after. But I still enjoyed the gym overall. Now every gym have their issues; whether it may be overcrowding, staff attitude, broken machines, and more as everyone can assume.
In my opinion, I actually believe the X County location is a solid spot to do your basic workouts; if you focus and actually work out.
I actually like the staff, as they take care of business in my opinion (at least when I go early), because lots of things happen and you have to deal w/ lots of attitudes from customers and arguments that might happen out of nowhere so its a tough job overall.
I like the stretch out area to take care of my essential stretch outs and kettle ball training. The middle section of gym leaves more to desire as I wish there were more machines hitting different parts of the body but you have to consider the tight real estate they have to work with.
The dumbbell section is solid and usually I get my weights that I'm seeking pretty conveniently. Now the cardio area needs to be improved. I went to another location and it had newer machines for cardio and a much bigger space to breath.
Every gym has their limitations but that is probably my biggest issue in terms of the access. Now to sum up my bigger issues; the bathroom I wish was kept a bit cleaner but most gyms go thru this unfortunately.
Next, would be overcrowding within a tight section with people doing circuits of 2-3 pp to a machine is not good for other people in gaining access. Last, I would say are *some of the people. Often times, you'll notice because it's there but people like to joke around too much taking up time for others to get access; they like to spread rumors about other folks even if it's untrue but they worry about social than focus on working out as many folks esp have work and other things to do for the day. Quite a few people look to hookup and judge people's looks in my opinion a bit too often from what you hear passing by, while others may show off a bit too much in my opinion. It's okay in a way to meet up outside the gym but that wouldn't be the avenue most should take as it usually ends terribly (social media will tell you) and the gym should be used to workout only with some aspects of a small talk before getting back to training. But overall, I think the gym is pretty good compared to others unless you're willing to spend more than double...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe gym is fine, and has decent equipment if you need a quick workout. What's terrible is the customer service, and hidden policies. Their membership policy is predatory, once you sign up they make it very difficult to cancel, and have all these loop holes that ensure them getting your money even if you never used your membership for a single day, even for 10 minutes. I went to rejoin, and after I signed up again there was a discrepancy with my account, and I told them to forget it I don't want the membership. I was told that I'd still have to pay a $58 cancellation fee if I wanted to cancel the membership. This was within 3 minutes of signing up. I didn't even step on the gym floor, and I was told if I didn't pay the cancellation fee they would send my account to collections, and that it would affect my credit. The discrepancy with my account was, I had froze my membership during covid, and then after a few months they started to bill my account again. Without even sending an email, or letting the members, myself and others knows they were open. Check the reviews, I'm not the only one this happened to. In 2020 I went back and forth with their corporate offices in email until they eventually let me cancel my membership online, which is supposedly a special courtesy. They had informed me that everything was taken care of, and the charges wouldn't be applied to my account. Then when I went to join again, I was told I had to pay all those back charges, even though there's a note on my account that says I don't. Unless I could show proof of cancellation, which I didn't have, but it was clearly noted on my old cancelled account. So I would avoid this gym at all costs, unless you want the runaround, and like shady business practices that let them try to take your money. I should have my head checked for going back and trying to join again after the emails I went through with their...
