My experience at this restaurant was a bit of a mixed bag. We were a party of nine, with two of us being vegan, celebrating my girlfriend's mother's 70th birthday. From a hibachi standpoint, everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. However, a few areas could use some improvement.
The hibachi chef, a new addition to the team, was personable and made the experience enjoyable. However, for those celebrating birthdays, the restaurant's effort was lackluster. They provided ice cream but didn’t add any special touches or celebratory engagement, which was a bit disappointing.
The spare ribs from the kitchen were flavorful, but the portion size was quite small, with only four ribs per plate. It would be beneficial if the restaurant offered a larger size option, as we ended up ordering three rounds.
On regard to vegan options, this is where the restaurant falls short. The vegan fried rice and udon noodle stir fry were tasty, but the portions were on the smaller side, especially for the noodles. The sushi options were very limited, with only one vegetable roll available and no option for modifications or customized rolls. They also have avocado and cucumber rolls, which are simple and might be okay for some, but not something we ordered. The shishito peppers were good, but overall, the vegan offerings left much to be desired. The two of us didn’t feel satisfied and ended up eating more elsewhere.
The ambiance is good, and the restaurant has an eclectic customer base. Some chefs engage differently with younger crowds compared to older ones, adding a unique dynamic to the dining experience.
The food is tasty, and the restaurant has potential, but it needs to up its game in certain areas. Enhancing the portion sizes, especially for vegan/plant based options, and adding more celebratory elements for special occasions could make this place golden. Overall, it was a 4-star experience, but the vegan options would bring that...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant for a late lunch with my family, which included four kids and two adults. Our children are well-behaved and familiar with restaurant etiquette, so we were looking forward to enjoying a Hibachi lunch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the host, who also served as the manager, and promptly seated.
The Hibachi side of the restaurant was empty, and the general dining area wasn’t too busy either, so we expected smooth service.
We ordered miso soups, an avocado roll, and chicken hibachi with both rice and noodles. Our Hibachi chef, Fanti, was incredibly pleasant and clearly enjoyed his work, which was evident in the quality of the food he served. Unfortunately, our server had an attitude and kept reminding us that the items we ordered had a cost, as if we weren’t aware that we needed to pay for our meal. This was quite odd- considering we were only order extra miso soup, nothing crazy or too confusing.
After receiving our adult hibachi dishes, we noticed that our miso soups were missing, although the kids had received theirs. We politely asked Fanti about the soups, and the manager came over. Instead of immediately addressing the issue by retrieving the soups from the kitchen, he checked our order in the computer to verify our claim, despite the 35-minute wait.
We eventually received our soups, but our server then made 5-6 visits asking, “Is everything okay?” If she had shown this level of attention from the beginning, our experience would have been much smoother. Miscommunications can happen in hospitality, but the attitude of the staff plays a crucial role in resolving them. Unfortunately, our server Zhen did not meet this standard, although Fanti and the other support staff were excellent.
I will probably never return because I don’t like tipping rude staff, but I highly recommend the food for its...
Read moreWas in the mood for some hibachi and stopped in here to get some take-out.
There is outdoor seating for when it's nice out, however, I would recommend sitting inside. The decor is chic and modern, I loved the puzzle piece ceiling. The environment is set in which you can be casual, however, you can have a date night or celebrate a birthday here as well.
There is also a bar area and a restaurant area where you sit if you don’t want hibachi.
I was immediately greeted and the gentleman at the front was very polite and helpful. I ended up doing the hibachi lunch special with shrimp and I upgraded to noodles. The special originally comes with your protein, rice, and an appetizer. With the upgrade (extra $3) everything came up to about $35.
I sat by the bar while I waited and some televisions had sports on. I had a mango margarita, it was sweet, but I didn’t taste any alcohol. It took about 20 minutes to come, however, what I didn’t like was they placed the food down and didn’t advise me that it was mine.
The packaging was great and utensils, and sauces were provided inside. Portion-wise, I was a bit disappointed with the amount of shrimp I got. Other than that, the veggies and noodles were great. The California rolls I got, were good, but to be honest, the noodles were my favorite part of this dish! They were so good and flavorful, I would eat a bowl of this alone! The shrimp and the veggies were decent, but they didn’t scream out to me.
In all, I would come back to try the hibachi just to compare it to the takeout!
Thank you for having me!
