Went in store looking to buy the first 3 books in a long running, popular series. The website says they have the first two in stock. Even offers me same day pick up. Also says theyre on sale! (20% off). Figure I can pick up the first 2 and order the third. Not unreasonable I think.
I get to the store, find the sections, and they only have the second book. I look on the website again, still says the first one is available for immediate pick up.
So I go to the counter and ask. The lady looks, can't find it. So I figure, okay, I'll order the first and third entries and buy the second, since its here.
Nope. They CANNOT order a book to be held apparently. She said I needed to call on Monday when the truck came in and see if they got the ones im looking for in (strike 1). Instead, she's trying to order them to be shipped to my house.... without asking me if that's what I want (strike 2).
But I shrug it off and say I'll just buy the second one, and order the other two myself, since apparently this multimillion dollar bookstore chain is incapable to just putting a hold on a book for me.
Nope, theyre charging me full price and NOT the discounted price CURRENTLY ON THEIR WEBSITE. when I ask about the price she says they charge different prices in store and online (strike 3).
I will never shop with BaM again. This is ridiculously dumb. Why even have a local store if you can't order books to it, and charge extra when...
Read moreJust spent the last several minutes of my life standing at the front counter waiting to be checked out as no one found it important to work the registers this evening. I eventually left my fiancé at the front counter to find some assistance and when I tried to approach a young woman, she decided to turn and walk away…
This same girl finally arrives at the front counter and proceeds to slam down the pop vinyl I was purchasing which if anyone reading this collects anything, could damage it, thusly affecting the value to who I was purchasing it for.
This skinny little girl proceeds to cop an attitude and wanted to scan the magazine my fiancé was looking at despite us not being interested in its purchase.
This girl was wearing what appeared to be a handmade tag so unsure if that means she’s a newer hire or what but if she’s a tenured employee then I think I know how she got/kept the employment opportunity. Otherwise if this is a new hire, I would promptly send her back to the place from whence she came despite the worker shortage.
Shame this is the only bookstore in town as I hate that I don’t have options in which to spend my hard earned money since children like her don’t seem to be appreciative of the customers that enable them to make...
Read moreI don't come to this BAM, or any bookstore for that matter, very often. Amazon has completely changed my book purchasing habits. Nevertheless, I needed a pair of books right away so off to BAM I went on a Thursday at about 4pm. The store is clean, well-staffed, and decorated nicely with book displays that are both interesting and attractive. On the not-so-good side, it's very difficult to find specific books because the books stored on the shelves have, in many aisles, lost all semblence of an alphabetized arrangement. I had to ask for help in locating the two books I needed (both literary classics), which ended up costing two employees about 15 minutes each to help me alone. They were very friendly and helpful, and fortunately the store was not busy otherwise other folks, or me, would've been waiting. Found one book, but not the other....so back to Amazon I go. Recommend going full librarian and getting all those book shelves arranged alphabetically. I know it's customers messing it up and that it's probably not easy, but it'll make a huge customer satisfaction difference and maybe save the staff from wasting...
