I’ve always loved Spirit Halloween but my experience today was extremely negative and left me feeling very disappointed in this store. I stopped in around 5pm and picked out a costume, I was unsure about the fit and being that they don’t have dressing rooms, my fiance and I went to the register and asked if they take returns in case our costumes didn’t fit properly. The employee said yes they do take returns, that today was actually the last day that they are accepting returns so that if we don’t like it, we can bring it back before 11 tonight, when they close. Great. So I took the costume home and not to be dramatic but it was the ugliest, cheapest costume I’ve ever seen in my life and fit like a trash bag, super oversized when it was only supposed to be a medium. I ended up making my own costume and knew I could still return the shitty one so it was whatever. So around 9 o’clock, I brought it back in for the return. The manager immediately responded with “we don’t do returns, only exchanges.” I explained to her that the employee told me earlier that I could return it and that was the only reason I bought it. It was a 70 dollar costume so I wasn’t risking buying it without making sure I can return it if it doesn’t fit right. She responds to me “No, she didn’t say that. My employees are trained to say exchange not return.” She repeated that statement multiple times when I told her that’s not what the employee said. Even if the employee misunderstood and it was a mistake, that would have been fine and I would have understood and took the hit. But the fact that she was telling me no, her employee didn’t say that, insinuating that I’m lying is absolutely insane and extremely unprofessional. My wife found an online coupon that worked on the website and asked if it could be valid at the store. The cashier Elmir initially typed it in and said it didn’t work and when asked if she could order online and pick it up he rolled his eyes. She found another coupon and showed it to him and he said how dense can you be no coupons worked in the store. Don’t shove your phone in my face and asked her to leave the store: she was never disrespectful to him and he kept calling her dense and stupid. When asked to speak to a manager he kept saying things like these people come to save $2 at a store. Extremely disrespectful and just unnecessary. Spoke to manager Maddie who was kind and helpful and even put what we wanted on hold. He was extremely rude and tried to keep escalating words even though the manager told him to be quiet. I was very excited to go in store as I've heard it's cool place to go into. We arrived Saturday place was insanely busy (figured it would be). Upon check out the male was very rude, when I stated I had a coupon he said is it online coupon.. I then said yes sir.. he then said um ya that doesn't work and if u have a problem take it up with corporate, I don't know what else to tell you. So I processed to say I have another coupon in my car y'all sent me from an online order I received on 10.27.. he goes ya that doesn't work either it expired on 10.24.
