Unfortunately today I had the worst costumer experiance in the grooming department at Petco. I was delighted to hear I could get my Airdale in for a groom when I called yesterday so quickly. I had a jovela conversation with the groomer and asked if all the paperwork was up to date for her to get groomed. I was assured it was... I was running three minutes late and apologized as I walked in the door. During the check in process I was asked if she has taken any medications in the last day. I said no except for her daily arthritis meds (after thinking about it I realized I forgot to give them to her that morning). He then informed me that they couldn't honor the appointment due to she had meds in the last 24hrs. I recanted saying actually I did forgot to give them to her this morning. He replied to late you already told me she was on daily meds. To which I replied if this was going to be an issue why wasn't I informed yesterday not to give her meds before I brought her in due to company policy. Obviously this started to make me quite upset. He replied its company policy I can't taker her for her appointment. This started a back and forth argument ..... As he was getting up to go get the manager I asked if I called the vet and if they said it was a no issue situation if they would take her. He said I would need it on a letter head and left the room. I quickly called my vet and had them on the phone before he got back with his manager. Proceeded to get them on the phone together and my vet wrote the letter immediately.(he tried to explain what he needed to the vet but wasn't very clear due to the fact they had to send two letters before one was excepted). Finally got her in though I must say I was very upset that I had to suggest the remedy and didnt' feel like it was my responsibility to find a solution to be able to get her groomed and pay for their services. I will say the groomer kept his cool just wasn't trained well from Petco to how to suggest solutions to company polices. In my opinion this should have been handled on the initial phone call. We then went over grooming notes specifying that an all body shave is ok just leave a beard. I came back and picked up my little girl , of course shave was fine but they didnt' leave a beard. Not the end of the world... I went up to the cashier to pay and he asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I explained I didn't think the customer service was at all up to par. He pointed out, how upset I was. Yes I was but at no point did anyone take responsibility for company policies not being explained before I had the appointment. Again I asked questions on the phone when making the appointment to make sure they had all current paper work to groom her. Then the cashier explained he knew everything that happened and said I wasn't being very nice. I said yes I was very upset, I was going to be turned away and had a right to be. I admitted I was a little hot headed. I also explained that this issue that happened was a short coming on Petco not me, for not explaining the policies prior to the appointment. If they did, there would have been no problems from the start. I stated it's obvious you do not care that much about customer service and at no point did anyone apologize and offer a solution. I had to suggest the obvious solution myself. He replied "Sorry" is that what you wanted to hear (snidely by the way). I asked that he relay my comments to the GM and also commented that it's obvious with that comment you do not really care about customer service. Sadly I have been taken my little girl here since 2011 and even thought they haven't had the best stylist's all the time. It always been a place she felt comfortable getting a hair cut. With that said they have always have done a good job making her feel comfortable in the space ,as she is a little nervous Nelly. That was always a trade off I was wiling to make till today. I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. This really is a big failure on training than the employees themselves. Do...
Read moreThis is the second time I booked with this business, had prior, specific communication, and was turned away. Oh yea…….. I got the receipts too. The first time I put in the booking online that I just adopted him, he is a GSD, all records and medications everything up to date. Came from a home where two other smaller terriers made him kind of freak out and start barking but no history anywhere of violence to humans or even dogs. Just while he adjusts, a muzzle might help. I got a message you can see in the text thread saying they are happy to try if I believe he doesn’t truly need a muzzle. I said I do not believe he needs one, but the text shows we talked about the barking at dogs and being aware of when you are moving him so he doesn’t get face to face with other dogs out in the open etc. it’s all on the text.
I show up, and was told he cannot be on any sedative for 24 hrs. As the pics and confirmations show it says that nowhere so I’m hearing this the first time I get there and they turn me away after I paid for an Uber both ways to get there.
We made another appointment. There were some dogs in the shop so we navigated around them but he barked and kinda freaked out initially until he was corrected and immediately stopped but still sat there and barked here and there and whined because he could still see the dog right in the door way. She touched him all over he was not aggressive just exactly what I described in the text. Then it turned into “with the dogs we have we can’t deal with the stress it may cause. All dogs bark in a kennel space initially almost 100 percent of the time when a new dog comes in. It’s just cause he is a German shepherd and they didn’t want to deal with hearing him bark. This could have been so simple and I wouldn’t have wasted 2 trips. Don’t book him after you talk with me and the dog does exactly what I explained when he gets there when you were still “willing to try” there was not one situation in the grooming room this was all on the way where customers have their dogs spread about. She got to see him first hand and how quickly you can stop him getting worked up initially but he sat there and GSD dogs are vocal and whiny dogs so he kept making noise but never did anything unsafe to anyone. Twice they brought me out there, first without giving me all the info I needed, 2nd, just changing their mind based off info they already knew. I understand safety is paramount, but to not even bring him back to a cage on a lead to see if he settles in for a few mins with no access to dogs after you already knew this info???!!! Smells like rookie soup being slow cooked over there. It is breed prejudice and it’s not...
Read moreI don't understand this place.
The store and the way it's run need vast improvement. On this visit I saw, a dead mouse in the mouse aquarium that looked like it had been there for a few days, and three of the saltwater tanks had a film on the top of the water so thick it looked like someone had dumped a vacuum cleaner bag in them.
I don't understand why they can't get the simple things right. I would also avoid the "grooming" service. The groomers aren't friendly and don't seem to be in any rush to get things done. The only reason I go to Petco is to buy pre-packaged dog food since they're the only ones who carry the brand I need. If I could, I'd go somewhere else.
Just went there again on 3/5/13 because my dog had cabin fever and it was too cold to go outside to the park.
Same as always, dead fish in various tanks some had been in the tank so long that their tankmates had practically picked the carcass clean. Fish showing signs of ick, etc..
Since I was there, and already had a tank set-up at home I decided to buy a few feeder fish just to have something swimming around in it. I asked an employee to help me grab around 8 feeders, if they died due to ick I wasn't concerned since it was only about a buck for all of them.
As the employee is about to scoop them out, I ask for only 8 feeder guppies, to which the employee responds, "Everything in this tank is a goldfish. That's all we put in here." Really? That's funny because the tank had goldfish, minnows, rosy reds (also minnows), and guppies in it. I just looked at him wondering if he knew anything about fish, I then had to point out which fish I wanted so I didn't get any goldfish, without bothering to correct him.
But that's kind of my point, these people are clueless and don't seem to be managed very well on top of that. I just don't get what is so hard about doing really basic things right. Clean the tanks and remove dead animals, treat infections in your fish tanks, etc.
I would NOT buy any fish of value from this place, especially expensive saltwater fish, you're only asking for problems if you do. I also would not buy freshwater fish from here and put them into a tank that already has a healthy fish community in it. Their fish have visible ick right on them and will infect your tank.
The fish I bought cost around a buck total and were all put into a separate tank together. I would not introduce them to any of my...
