A few things I love about The Spot: the name, the coaches, the professionalism, the friendly atmosphere, the music.
So It all started about a year ago when I broke up with the last gym I was going too! I wasnât pushed hard enough, I felt like just another customer and I wasnât seeing the results I was paying for after TWO YEARS. So a friend recommended me to The Spot. My first day at The Spot I was afraid of all the new equipment and weights that Iâve never seen before. But I was introduced to everyone and it was a smaller group which was super nice. Everyone was so friendly. When I was working out I was being guided and actually âtaughtâ how to lift weights đď¸ââď¸ correctly. To this day I still find myself learning new tricks to lifting and new muscles that have never even been activated before. The music is ALWAYS on point! The Britney Burn isnât one of my favorites... but it works in small dosages đ Some of my favorite coaches are Maeve, who always ALWAYS pushes me to be the beast I am. In the past I was underestimated and put in a mom group lifting 5lbs đ. At The Spot Maeve has me NOW bench pressing 35lb dumbbells with ease and so much more because she pushes my limits. I feel so motivated when I leave. Thatâs the type of motivation I need! Rory is actually pretty funny and reminds me of my Little brother. He also is the reason why I wake up on Sunday mornings. His playlist is super dope and itâs always a fun time. If you ever go to Mattâs class... He is like a yoga guru. Be ready to find muscles youâve never used before. He sorta reminds me of a healer. Also very chill music. Kyle is another cool cat! Heâs always super bubbly and love love loves food. He introduced me to a place on broad st that has the BEST pumpkin spice milkshakes...... NO JOKE! The coolest part about Kyles class is he always asks what we plan on eating after the class and what our favorite part of the workout was. Some of the answers he hears is probably hilarious. Ben is a sweetheart and very cool to workout with. Heâs got some pretty cool tricks to help when you are having a rough workout day. His playlist is alsoooooo pretty groovy. Now this last coach Iâve never worked out with.... his name is Louis. He cracks me the hell up with his crockery and his personality. If he had a reality TV show..... Iâd probably watch it đ There are a few coaches I havenât had the pleasure of working out with but Iâm sure they are just as cool. đ
So needless to say, The Spot is the place to be! I leave all the time, feeling empowered because I exceed my expectations. Iâm more motivated to go to the gym because the coaches donât make me feel like just another number. We are all friends. The music is always upbeat & good for the soul. The environment is always a happy experience. Even if itâs a super early morning class, everyone is always very cool. And I can honestly say that Iâve never felt this way about...
Read moreMy husband and I were looking for something different for our daughter, who was five at the time, to do during last summer. We decided to let her try training at The Spot Athletics in their Minis program. She loved it! Not only was Coach Jess enthusiastic and encouraging, but she also made it fun while teaching proper techniques, positive sportsmanship, math facts and physical wellnessâalong with a great workout each time. Our daughter came home tired, which as a parent I greatly appreciated. Because our oldest daughter loved it so much, we also signed our three-year-old up for the next session.
I also feel that I should add that while our daughter began training this summer, I had the opportunity to sit in the waiting room and get to know the coaches and the culture of the facility. Even though I already had a gym that I regularly visited, I was so impressed with what JL and Michelle Holdsworth (owners) had created at The Spot that I decided to give it a try. When I began training, I had suffered with back and knee pain from old injuries, and so I was to the point where I had accepted that pain was just a part of my daily life. Because of the pain, I had developed some bad workout habitsâimproper techniques, overcompensating, etc.âthat only increased the pain. One thing that I greatly appreciate about training at The Spot is their relentless push to use correct techniques. And so immediately Laura, my coach, began teaching the correct techniques to use that are pain free. This has been a learning process, but because of JLâs philosophy that he teaches to his coaches to explain, demonstrate, encourage, and coach clients through a workout, it has been great. I am now actually working out without pain. The other thing that I really appreciate about The Spot is their philosophy towards continuous improvement. It is definitely not a place where being stagnant is allowed. They push you to be the best self that you can be so that you leave feeling better than when you arrived. Itâs trueâyou do. I have been incredibly impressed with all of the coaches from their level of knowledge to their encouraging words to their utmost professionalism. I can honestly say that as a familyâwe are huge fans of The...
Read moreI started going to the Spot about a year and a half ago. I was looking for something to excite me when it came to working out and training. I played sports in high school, but stopped making exercise my priority after. I would play co-recreational sports and workout a little in college, but it felt like a chore and something I didnât enjoy.
I realized a little over a year ago, I needed to make a change and make this a priority. My roommate suggested that I come to this gym with her. I was a little nervous to go, because she is quite athletic and I was worried how I would do compared to everyone else. I went and really enjoyed my first Metcon class. I wonât lie it was tough and I was pushed, but I never felt unwanted or embarrassed, because I wasnât up to the level of the other people in class. If they saw I wasnât ready to do an exercise they would alter it, so I could accomplish it. The trainers took time to get to know me, what my strengths and weaknesses were, and what goals I wanted to accomplish. I felt like they really did want to see me succeed and it motivated me even more to go, because I felt like I had another support system. They werenât there to collect my money; they were there to make sure all the things I wanted to accomplish got done. I started going twice a week and soon realized I had started to make it a priority.
Within a couple months, I had moved to 3 times a week and now Iâm up to 4 on most weeks. Within the first year of being there I am down 10% body fat and have accomplished many goals during the time here. While I play a part in this, JL and his staff may play a bigger part. They helped me find my motivation again and their encouragement keeps me coming back. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to discover a new side to themselves, wants to feel like a part of a gym family, and wants to feel like going to the gym isnât a chore...
