Ok, so I am back...this time eating a little humble pie with egg on my face ( not really the egg part, ' cause that's extremely gross). I received the most kind and gracious email back from the owner Mark apologizing for the situation, and on a Saturday night no doubt!!! I have to retract my statement now and say I WILL be going back to Brenz after Mark"s email! Once I say I am done, it is usually a wrap- I won't bother with a place or person again. However, a soft word mixed with some kindness goes a loooooonnnng way!!! Also, i have lost my 'petty Betty' platform and NOWWWW I am FORCED, HAPPILY I will add, to sign up for all of those social media accounts I don't have and post KUDOS to Mark!!!! Just to publicly say again, MARK, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for having integrity, showing kindness, being gracious and just plain caring what happens to ONE customer!!!! Your email speaks volumes about you as a person and owner!!! 😊😊
I just had the worst experience today at Brenz!!! I have emailed the owner, copied and posted my email in the feedback section on the web page and spoken to the absolute worst "manager " on the face of this earth, DAVID!!!! I will refrain from giving a horrendous review at this time....I will wait for a response....since we are home bound I have quite some time on my hands, and if no one wants to do the right thing I will be FORCED to blast every social media, even the ones I don't have ( I will sign up JUST TO BLAST HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- and yes I am being very petty, yes, petty). Oh, ironically while I was posting this review l received a call from none other than... David...the manager. Since you, Columbus and all other viewing eyes, weren't privy to my initial Brenz distress I will just finish this post by saying, THANK YOU MARK for following up!!! KUDOS TO YOU!!! While I am not going back to Brenz, I shall not elaborate, it is GREAT to know the owner cares and will make and take the efforts to right a wrong!!! Thank you again and be safe during this most...
Read moreMy wife and I eat a lot of pizza and I would definitely call myself an aficionado. It takes something special for me to take the time to write a review and this did it. We had a pepperoni, mushroom, sausage, for takeout. $22. We both agreed it was probably the worst pizza we've ever had from a restaurant. It was only a 15-minute wait so they weren't busy. The toppings were not spread out which left a big ring of oversized crust around the pizza. However, it was cooked properly. It just tasted terrible. The the flavor was bad on the sauce, the crust and the meats. I'm astonished at how this place has such good reviews. Maybe it's a bunch of college students that haven't had good pizza. Maybe their specialty pizzas and other food are better. I don't know. Maybe I got really unlucky but I don't see that pizza having a good day. For me even bad pizza is usually at least good but not this one. It wouldn't hold a candle to Little Caesars much less a restaurant charging these prices. In response to their response I stand by everything said. Don't lecture me about crossing lines. It's not an uncommon practice in reviews for someone to reflect on how their's could be such an outlier and seek to explain it. People can judge for themselves. Since you cared enough to respond I'll be kind and leave open the possibility that it was just a bad day and a poor example . But I assure you that if entered the pizza I received into those contests you wouldn't be...
Read moreExcellent pizza, closer to traditional style than Ohio/Midwest style even though the pizzas are square cut. It's basically a nice Ohio/Traditional hybrid.
Brenz offers a variety of unique pizzas and a ton of different toppings. Stopped in on 02/22 and ordered a 12" Spinach Artichoke, a 16" Rustic, Bread sticks with Cheese, 5 bone in mild wings, and a Meatball sub. All of that was $64 so it was a little pricey, but after trying a bit of everything I can definitely say it was worth it.
Their ingredients are quite fresh and they stack the pizza with toppings. Bread sticks made using dough from scratch and topped with golden crisped cheese, the sub was on a homemade bun with homemade meatballs, and they also make their own ranch - which is pretty good but not as good as Tommy's or Hounddogs' ranch.
Overall it's a terrific alternative to the abundance of Ohio/Midwest style pizzas in Columbus. Personally I'd give a Brenz a 4.8 overall, with the price being the only drawback. Since Google doesn't allow decimal reviews I...
