I previously visited this store to purchase a few items a total cost of $17.47. I was on the phone and wasn’t paying attention and almost walked out the store once i reached the door I immediately turned around to go back to the counter I had the items in my hand in plain view with my wallet. However, when I turned around a Caucasian male was right behind me, He then asked me to follow him to the back room. As proceeding to the back room i explained to him that i was just in the store a few hours ago and purchased a few items and need to get the items i had which was lead refill a pack of mechanical pencils and makers for a project that i am working on i explained to him that i was simply not paying attention. Without giving me a opportunity to purchased the items as he saw that i had my wallet in had he took me to a room and informed me that he was calling the police on me. He dismissed his self and Said that he would be back. I then asked the the store Manager and an unknown One of the female in a white shirt could i call to inform someone of what was going on the Caucasian female without looking at me rudely stated I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU DO JUST SIT THEIR UNTIL HE COMES BACK. Once the gentlemen returned I asked was their someone i could speak to because have this issue dismissed and he said yes however he never went to talk to anyone the officer were rude to me and I know this mistreatment that i experienced was based off of the color of my skin. I was looked at and talked to as if i was a common criminal. Although the the gentle attempted to act as if he believed that i was not trying to steal he said he still had a job to do. If this is how hobby lobby treat its customers and customers of color my dollar is better spent some where else. And to add insult to a already trouble times as the officer gave me my ID back they made some threatening remarks to me in regards to my freedom. Please becareful this should have never happened and I don’t want this to happen to...
Read moreI love this Hobby Lobby! It's the only one I've been to, but, the quality of merchandise is much better when compared to Michaels, as are the prices and sales! Especially for Springtime Weddings!
I purchased a couple hundred dollars worth of wedding merch. The "His & Hers" brand was 50% off, too, this past April. My wedding was on 4/20 so I was shopping for very important, last-minute, finishing touches items, and I couldn't have walked into a better place if I tried (we were just driving by)!
While looking at David's Bridal dresses photos, I saw my gown (in white), but with "sleeve-straps" draping down over the "bride-to-be's" arms, and I had to recreate it, but I had trouble finding the right lace pattern in black in a 5" wide spool. With no time to order online, I found it at Hobby Lobby. Two days before our flight to Vegas, I sewed those strappy, draped sleeves onto my dress, recreating the most beautiful Renaissance/Woodland-style gown, ever!
Also, I found gorgeous silk flower bundles at really great prices. I'd planned to spruce up the most cheap and boring bouquet, ever, purchased online from Zulily's (for way too much); a pretty black sequin mask; and, some great decor - the perfect finishing touches! The magnetic "Just Married" sign was an absolute necessity, of course, and 50% off! No tin cans for this bride and groom!
I went back a 2nd time, just to double check, and found the most amazing large, long-stemmed, vibrant purple flower I knew had just replaced my cheap-@r$$ bouquet! I used one of the flower sprays to create a matching boutonniere. Yes, I realize I keep saying perfect, but it was.. perfect.
Finally, I needed to return the silk flowers I was going to use to make that sad bouquet happy, along with a few unused items, but had to wait until we returned from our honeymoon. The returns were fast and hassle-free, with my receipt, three...
Read moreI'll let you know I only shopped here because I didn't realize there was a proper art store in Fresno that might have the linoleum blocks I needed. I don't like Hobby Lobby's history, owners, or their philosophy of cramming their religious beliefs down everyone's throats.
What I saw while I was in the store. The Manager talks down to customers and staff alike. I've never seen employees kowtow to a manager like these employees did because they need their job. Management is picked and trained this way. Indeed says that store California managers make an average of $49,000/ year (6% below the national average) and $21,000 less than what Hobby Lobby claims in their financials. They say the salary range for a store manager is $70k-$108k. Managers, if you aren't making that, talk to corporate. Female managers report getting paid an average of $10k LESS than male managers.
Because the owners are rabidly evangelical, the store is closed on Sundays. Fine. The owners, however, have also been found guilty of stealing religious artifacts from the Middle East, purchasing stolen artifacts, and putting them on display in their ill-begotten Museum of the Bible. With people being so flippantly reprehensible when it comes to federal and international law as well as not destroying cultural heritage, how can we expect to believe they live morally?
They refuse to offer insurance that fully covers women's healthcare denying coverage for birth control (even if it is used to for hormone therapy to cure a myriad of female illnesses). A student told me she was fired for being a single mother after being raped by her foster father as per "company policy." Another student was fired once the manager discovered he was gay. These are Corporate Policies and well-known across the country.
I'll leave the discussion of the Green's support of hate groups for...
