Moran Restaurant — Restaurant in Colchester

First, I will start by saying the restaurant is cute & clean. The service was good; however, I had to ask for things several times. I was looking forward to the papusas on the menu. They said they didn’t have them and were not making them because of the time consuming nature. Take the item off your menu - don’t advertise what you don’t have or don’t want to make. My husband ordered a quesadilla and it was the size of his fist, mind you this small quesadilla is $15. I ordered tortilla soup, there were 5 strips of ck in the soup, some onions and small amount of chopped Avacado. No tortillas in the tortilla soup. We were not impressed and were sad that we picked the restaurant for a meal with a friend we hadn’t seen in awhile. An expensive “snack” as the cost of food was exorbitant to the size. Visited Moran for the first time last night to make and then pick up a take out order. Was very excited to try their food because of all the positive feedback I have been reading and hearing around town. Although our order took a bit longer than we expected, I was very impressed by the staff who were exceptionally friendly and consistently checking up on our order without me even asking them too. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday and their efforts were appreciated. Particularly the young man who took our order. Let me say the food was worth the wait! Wow! It’s about time this area got real tacos and burritos. The place is clean, service is top notch, and the food is amazing. My server was very friendly with a great attitude. I ordered the Moran Tacos with a house marg. The beef and chicken had so much flavor and seasoning. The food came out before I finished the complimentary chips and salsa too.

There’s no competition for Spanish/Mexican food. They set the standard of tacos and burritos in the area, hands down.

For reference, I lived on the Arizona/Mexico border and been to Guatemala (Moran is Guatemalan) and I’m picky about how original the food tastes. They nailed it.
