Owner very knowledgeable about what he has in stock and where it is. Things are generally in alphabetical order. Has a very large selection of newer artists from the past 15-20 years and also older albums. You can tell they are catering to a college-friendly crowd being so close to Ursinus College campus. There is not much room to move around the store, but it is definitely worth a look due to the superb selection. Prices are on point with what you see online for new records. Found a brand new copy of many albums I have listened to over the past 15 years from Smashing Pumpkins to Radiohead and Arcade Fire to Interpol and so many in between. Also had some amazing finds in their used record selection that were older and in great condition at really nice prices. Also sells quality refurbished record players. Parking can be found right on the main street or even better, around back behind the buildings. Since it is the Main street in the area, it is likely in your best interest to park behind the building and not on the Main street due to so much traffic during most times of the day. This location is within walking distance of a great brewery with an awesome menu called Troubles End. This location is also LGBTQ+ friendly but doesn't throw it in your face at all....
Read moreI don't want to ruin the store's perfect 5 star rating, and 4.5 isn't available, so 5 it is! Matones is a cozy little record shop, and is the definition of an indie record shop. That means the staff are very invested in their shop and are extremely welcoming and kind. Being a metalhead, I immediately went over to their metal section. While it was missing some big names, it was great for what it was. It's obvious that genre is not given the biggest spotlight, and that's completely okay. Their punk, classic rock, and even modern rap sections? Fantastic. The best part is that the prices are very competitive. What cost me 14 dollars here wouldve run me 20 or above in a larger shop. This store is amazing for being a small shop on the side of a road. My only legitimate problem I have is that the price sticker (at least on my record) was taped to the cover itself, making removal kinda a pain. If they put it on the plastic wrapper, it would be perfect. Still, they deserve...
Read moreThe selection this place had had me flabbergasted. Every genre, new and used. Great bottom bins. Recievers, amps, and turntables. The store turntable was a d202, which is what I have at home so I definitely dug the vibe. They even have a little couch area to hang out. I must've spent an hour in here sorting through bins, conducting myself well and handling records deftly. All the while, not a word from the store tenant (owner?). Until.. Well, they have a great collection on the walls containing exclusives and rare pressings you have to see to believe. I'm checking them out because they're obviously very novel, and I'm told to 'be careful with the wall collection'. Ugh. Like vinyl collectors aren't being careful at all times? Thanks, homie. I needed that. Still dropped 70 bucks here and will probably be back. I don't know if I mentioned how great the...
