After trying countless nail salons across Skippack, Norristown, and King of Prussia, I’ve finally found my place!

I came across the salon via social media and called same day for an appointment. They were able to accommodate me with short notice. Upon arrival everyone greeted me even though they were very busy with clients.

Kim, the owner, introduced herself and told me the procedure of checking in on the iPad and selecting my color choice from the pink book. I loved how the color options were neatly painted on acrylic nails, and either in the pink book or placed on rings within a basket. After selecting my color I did not have to wait long to be seated in the pedicure chair.

I was asked how the temperature was and appreciated that a liner was placed in the foot bath. I selected for a regular pedicure due to time but they have other selections depending on your wants and if you want to treat yourself! This is the first place in a long time that took the extra care of cleaning under my nail and filing my toes neatly so that ingrown toenails do On not occur.

After my pedicure I had my manicure which was a dip powder overlay with tips. The nail tech took their time and checked with me multiple times about shape and length. I have struggled to find a nail tech and salon that can achieve thin yet strong nails with tips all while keeping a nice square shape to the overall nail. Again, extra attention was paid to under the nails, even when polishing.

I am extremely happy with my nails and loved that they recognize your birthday month by providing 20% off your service, just show them your drivers license. Most places only give 10% maybe 15% so I was surprised by this offer. Discount aside the total came to $75 ($30 for pedicure and $45 for dip/tip). A heads up there is a small CC fee so bring cash to pay and tip (I always tip in cash). Lastly, each time you go in and check in on the iPad you accrue points for your visit which goes towards services.

First things first, do not listen to these fake reviews. I’ve been coming here since it opened, and I used to think it was the best salon ever, however, the past few months now have completely changed my POV of this place. They trick you into getting your nails done every 2 weeks, which leads to the acrylic piling up on your nails, weighing them down, and causing them to curl and lift up the acrylic by the nail bed. This happened to me, and my nails kept breaking, but because of the techs lack of knowledge, she kept piling and piling acrylic on top and whenever she made a mistake it was always a problem with my nails. I also got nail fungus from here too, I will upload a picture soon, but my toe nails are yellow and underneath my acrylic is all yellow and green fungus chipping away at my actual nails. Even when I asked the tech about this, all she said nonstop was just to cover it up with acrylic. It’s also really dirty here, one time when I was getting a pedicure, when I was getting my feet scraped with the callus remover thing, I saw a worker pick up the one that was just used by my tech and use it on someone else! Disgusting!! It wasn’t even cleaned!! If you want your nails to not rot away and fall off your fingers, I would highly recommend you to not go here. Even the reviews, the workers tell you nonstop “leave google review” and huddle over your shoulder until you publish it. I am NEVER coming back here ever again. This was my first time at Star Nails by Kim and what a fabulous experience from start to finish! Kim was so attentive, listened to what I wanted and helped me make the best decisions for my nails. She took the time to get to know me as a new client and constantly checked in with me throughout my appointment to make sure I was happy with my services. I got a dip manicure and didn’t give her much to work with and she absolutely worked a miracle with my nails! A lovely lavender with chrome! I am obsessed! It is so refreshing to be taken care of by someone that actually cares for her clients. You can tell how beloved she is by her longtime clients and it made me that much more confident in my decision to come here. She knew every customer by name and asked how their experiences were and thanked them for their business. Her salon is bright, so clean and beautiful. I also loved her display of colors. So many choices!!!
