This is not a bad place at all, but there are some kinks that need to be worked out since it is a newer place. One of the issues that I see them having immediately is seating and availability . People come in and there’s no idea as to how many seats are available or anything like that I went in today and noticed that I paid for my buffet ,my drink and I received my receipt and they wrote a number on top of my receipt and I went to go and find me somewhere to sit and eat, and I was immediately stopped by one of the workers and was told that I have to wait upfront until My Number was called . They have an availability issue , very limited seating but you have a surplus amount of customers that want to come and sit and eat .The servers will come by your table and attempt to refill your drink, but will often forget where you’re sitting and will often forget what you’re drinking and will have to come back to your table several times to look at your receipt . They also don’t have a good concept of time . There was a family that sat down and hadn’t even had their first plate of food and hadn’t even received their drinks, but they had given them their fortune cookie and told them to enjoy their day and that that is simply distasteful , you have to have a better understanding of time how long they’ve been there. And whether or not you serve them their drinks yet. Understand that the servers are to monitor how much you’re eating how much you’re drinking what you’re drinking , and what’s going on . Those things are fine but they are very obvious and is almost rude. They’ll come by and just stare directly at you while you’re eating and you just feel more so on display versus being subtly observed . I’ve been to restaurants before where they’re able to watch everybody and keep track of everyone Without being so obvious and rude lol . The food there is definitely lacking. I really enjoyed the salad. The sushi was pretty good. They had a nice selection of sushi. Some of it seem prepackaged and just kind of put on display instead of freshly made and some of them look like they were freshly made there the entrée items and things like that, everything just seems kind of bare minimum they have the typical like orange chicken the peanut butter chicken there’s a black pepper chicken, but it seems like it’s mostly just breading with like just barely a piece of meat on the inside. Shrimp isn’t bad seafood isn’t too bad but it’s a lot of options there just seem Really bare minimum or low quality even more so than you would expect from a buffet . We’ll see how it grows and changes over the...
Read moreI have no idea how this place has 4.3 stars when other buffets I've been to that are better, like Hokkaido, have less.
First, let me be clear that the staff are very friendly and helpful, offering good service.
However, the food is really just "okay". Their black pepper chicken is probably the best thing up there, and it's very middle-of-the-road. The rice is oddly stored in the hot pans instead of in rice cookers like most buffets do; the fried rice is also awful, overpowered by the veggie mix. I've also never had such a tangy potsticker/dumpling sauce, it felt like it was 50% vinegar or something. Crab Rangoon exterior wasn't overly fried (good!), but the interior was a bit bland. The little coffee/chocolate cakes were good, though, but those are a staple at all of these and seem sourced from the same place(s).
The interior is still pretty much untouched from when it was a Golden Corral, with the signage above the buffet sections intact, e.g., "The Brass Bell Bakery".
All in all, very surprised by the discrepancy between the ratings and reality. There are better buffets out there, and much better Chinese restaurants in Collinsville, especially, like...
Read moreHonestly, I've been looking forward to visiting this place ever since I was notified of its opening. The prices are standard for a buffet, the food is pretty good. I highly recommend the butter shrimp and the chicken teriyaki. The pot stickers, crab rangoon, and egg rolls all tasted fresh and delicious. There are other items that are rather good but these were the ones that really stood out for me. I'd say that the sushi they have there is fantastic and I wish I could have had more but I was so full from trying everything I could. I will most certainly be coming back, not just for the food, but for the speedy service too. My cup did not stay empty for long and refills were speedy, tables were cleared of plates quickly, and as I was walking up and down the buffet line, I happened to notice that employees were maintaining a clean environment. I absolutely respect that this place cares about maintaining their quality and standards. I hope that this place stays open for a very long time and I am glad to have found another solid...
