Iâve been taking classes at RockBox for a couple weeks now so I feel like I can give an honest review from my experience.
I first came to the gym because they were offering a free class and my friend who loves the gym wanted to go. I would like to preference with, I am NOT a gym girly.. I go about 5 times a year, never know what Iâm doing.. feel super uncomfortable and donât enjoy the workout. I went to the first class and was VERY surprised. The workouts are easy to follow from beginners to more experienced gym girlies (or guys). I really could not recommend the gym enough! The coaches are extremely supportive and helpful! The environment is great, they keep you motivated through the whole workout even when youâre exhausted and want to give up. I will not lie, as a beginner the classes can be challenging, however they push me and you can always slow down and go at your own pace as well. It is not just boxing either, there is a whole strength element on the other half of the class so you get a mix of both! They also work on different body parts each day so you wonât have the same workout every time you go.
I can tell from the previous reviews Iâve read that people are hesitant because of the price but honestly itâs only about $20 a class and if you do unlimited itâs even less. Which is extremely fair compared to other/similar style gyms in the area.
The staff as well are Extremely FRIENDLY! They make it a great experience overall. Every encounter Iâve had with the ladies at the counter has been great and they are so helpful!
Random other things: The gym is very clean, there are two bathrooms, a water fountain and they have the water fountain to fill up your water bottles! They have apparel, energy drinks and protein bars for purchase as well. Side note and bonus, When you sign up you get a free gym bag, gloves, wraps and deodorizers for the gloves. Everything you need to start up! They also do events and theme days, which are fun!!! They also have an app, making it easy to book classes and look at the schedule, a Facebook page to stay connected, and they send you an email with a meal plan/nutrition information if youâre looking to work on your diet a bit as well.
Overall, my experience has been great and I just upgraded from the 8 classes a month to unlimited! If youâre hesitant, I recommend booking a free class and giving it try!! I donât think you will...
Read moreLoved the kickboxing part of classes. Each class is different so you never get bored. The instructors are great.
After being a member for almost a year, I have seen this gym take a real nose dive. It is clear the owners only care about making money. They have lost two of the best instructors. They have cut daytime class so if you arenât able to work out when the gym is most crowded- early morning or evening, there is no option but to pay an extra charge on top of membership even if those are the only classes that fit your schedule. There is no air conditioning and the punching bags and floor are dirty. Your gloves show the dirt after you workout. No locker rooms/showers or access to gym equipment if you are not taking a class. Lowest membership price is $160/month for 8 classes/month. Shop around. YMCA, Planet fitness and anytime fitness are all cheaper some have a pool and a lot more classes/times. Lifetime and Villa are spa-like. Do your homework donât fall victim to the high pressure sale. They also hide fees like charges to freeze your account or requiring 30 days notice to cancel.
Again, I really liked the instructors and classes. Itâs too bad they are so greedy.
My name is Andi Anderson not James. For some reason google is using my husbandâs name...
Read moreNice Gym, however they are very pushing about enrollment to the point where I was completely turned off and decided to join a different gym. It started when I signed up for a trial. The day before they send a reminder text which is fine but then they sent one the day of and then as I was on my way they called me. After my trial class we went over prices. I told them I wanted to talk to my Husband 1st. She said "well call you call him now?" I let her know I wanted to talk to him in person. She said "if you don't sign up today you'll lose out on this deal". I continued to explain that I wanted to talk to my Husband in person. She continue suggesting that I call him over the phone. After going back and forth for awhile. I was finally was able to go home and talk with my husband. Where we decided financially we weren't ready. And I would contact them when I was. But day after day and week after week I kept getting calls and text messages. I let her know I wasn't interested at that time and that I would call when I was. she responds with when is a better time for me to call you. After that I decided I was not going to enroll at all because the pushyness made me feel too...
