One of the female employees at Uprise was incredibly disrespectful on 8/11/2021 at 12:25 pm. She abruptly asked I (medical student) and girlfriend (OT student) to leave after we had arrived at 10:30 AM, had already ordered coffee and were in the process of ordering lunch at 12:30 pm, as we are studying for our boards. Told us Uprise bakery was not a "hangout spot" due to covid, although we had spent $100 the day prior and $70 the day prior to that on food and drink. Immediately after informing us of this information, she disconnected the wifi and asked us to take our order to go. We both would highly, highly recommend professional remediation for this employee, given her tact and impoliteness, more so than her following any covid policies, as she argued over the duration of our stay, told us to take our ordered to go, disconnected the wifi within 2 minutes and when we referred to other customers staying longer than us, she said "we are just talking about you guys right now." I can personally say, having been to many coffee shops for study sessions over my 8 years of medical school and undergraduate, that I haver had to write a review like this, having never dealt with someone repeatedly prompting us to leave...
Read moreRecent disappointment. While not a regular visitor as we live out of state, we do make it a point to stop in when visiting CoMo. The food is really quite good. My disappointment came yesterday when my family of 4 stopped in for food. We were carrying drinks from an external vendor and ordered croissants for a late breakfast. They happily took my $25.00 for the food, but when I asked for plates, I was informed that I could not eat in the restaurant as we were carrying the aforementioned drinks. I would have gladly returned the food, but this was not possible. Another policy? Informing me of your no external drink policy would have been nice to know before I ordered the food, but what was more upsetting is that the gentleman sitting next to us was also sporting an illicit beverage, but seemed to be well ensconced with his drink and laptop. So, I can bring in my computer and external drink and sit all day, but when I order food purchased from your restaurant, I'm asked to leave?? Sorry Uprise, there are other bakeries in town, including Shortwave Coffee right up the street, which was far more accommodating and with lot less attitude. Ironically, they've now earned business without...
Read moreThis review is based only on the breads and coffee drink that we had yesterday morning, but they were well encouraging enough that I would go back and eat anything on the menu.
The scone was everything it should have been, it held together, was moist, and was a beautiful mix of oats and big pieces of cherries. My friend got the orange-cranberry muffin (pretty sure it was cranberry, I didn’t pay attention before I shoved it in my mouth), but it was definitely orange, and was soft and delicious.
I also didn’t pay attention (oops) to what my friend got for his coffee, but I believe it was the frosted mocha. I would not think that mint and coffee would go together, but I enjoyed how this tasted very much.
We also got a loaf of their Columbia Sourdough, and it was one amazing loaf of bread. The crust was just like it should be, a little stong and chewy, the inside smelled so deliciously sour, and was soft, springy and just really wonderful. Made the best toast later in the day!
The whole place was really cute, clean, the bathroom was clean, it was easy to get to, and I would definitely go back next time I am...
