Wanted a new Kayak and decided to go with Pelican's Mustang 120x which WAS NOT available at the Dick's in Florence and the company won't ship large items to my town store because they don't do that for whatever reason. So I drove an hour and a half to Columbia's Dicks sporting goods for the truly great deal on a kayak. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and a great help getting the kayak to and through checkout and onto my truck, they even gave me some bright neon green tape to flag the back of the boat for transportation. My only qualm with the experience (and this goes for other retailers too but this most recent experience was here) is the lack of visible, on the floor employees ready to assist and answer questions because they're somewhere around nearby. I had to walk all the way to checkout to let them know I wanted a large item, go back to the kayak section, wait for the guy in the back to come up and help. AGAIN, everyone was nice, pleasent, helpful, etc...once I tracked them down. Just wish you would every so often have an associate walking through asking if you're finding everything ok or need assistance. Maybe I'm old school like that but it makes parting with my cash a better experience beyond just buying...
Read moreI went to the sporting goods store today in order to buy some arrows for my bow. I had no issue obtaining the arrows and getting them cut to length, but when I got to the front of the store the clerk refused to sell them to me because I was under 18. I was put into a quandary, my dad had given me permission to go to the store with his car and buy arrows. so, I called my dad on the phone and I said would you please say speak to the clerk and tell him that I have permission to buy arrows. My father Greece but this is not sufficient for the store manager or the clerk so I leave the store without the arrows. What puzzles me is this I'm buying arrow shafts that are blunt, why do I have to be over 18? I can understand refusing to sell ammunition to someone under 18year old but I can't understand why you wouldn't sell arrows to them. I wasn't trying to buy field points, or broadheads so I don't understand why...
Read moreWent in to buy shoes. There were roughly eight employees visible to me throughout my 20 minutes in the shoe section. I had money in pocket ready to buy. I couldn't get help easily and when I did the employee would hand me the shoes I wanted to try on then disappear. I was assisted by five different employees and felt like I was bothering each of them. Rather than talking to me, the customer, each chose to go back to conversations with other employees. Each time I needed help, I had to interrupt a personal conversation between employees to get that help. I left and spent my money elsewhere. The store I made my purchase in actually helped me and made my purchase more important than their employee's personal conversations. Management at Dick's should be concerned their employees have lost focus on what their purpose is while working. Won't be shopping with Dick's...
