I booked with Chelsea for a child's hair cut appointment for my 10 year old son, who has very very thick and coarse hair. When we got to his appointment, she told us that we would be better off at a barber shop because she doesn't specialize in men's cuts. That should have been our cue to leave.
The haircut is one of the worst haircuts I have ever seen. I could try to describe it but it would not even be possible to capture how bad it is. It's long in some places and short in others. It has huge gaps where the hair is at least an inch shorter than the hair around it and she didn't even trim evenly around his ears. But the haircut isn't even the worst part.
She vacillated between talking to my son like he was 4 and talking to him like he was 24. I understand that not everyone "gets" kids, but at a nice and well-regarded salon such as this one, I was absolutely shocked that not only would she curse in front of my kid, but she talked to her high school intern (who had just been to prom) about getting drunk at prom. She even asked the teenage intern if she had gotten drunk, and Chelsea began discussing how the punch at the teenager's prom might have been spiked, as if it was funny and something to brag about. Chelsea continued talking with her intern this way for the entire appointment, in front of my TEN year old son.
I would 0% recommend Chelsea to anyone who is bringing in a kid, and I would be leery about using her for an adult's hair since his haircut is so bad it will need to be redone in about two weeks.
Update: Kenneth’s resolved this issue very gracefully. However I am still leaving my review because the problem is no longer with the company but I would hate for anyone to have the experience I did with that particular stylist. Thank you for resolving this...
Read moreIt was great, I had a hair designer named Tamia and she was nice - My hair was box bleached 3 times by an amateur, I have an odd hair cut (short underlayer and cut in the back, with long sides...essentially permanent twin tails), and I come from a lineage of veeeery dark hair and red undertones, so despite my hair having fine strands, I knew it would be a challenge. They dealt with it as best as I thought was possible, and they even asked for help when they were stuck, so there was like 3 people who came to handle my hair, which is great! Help is never a bad thing and she made a good call in doing so, it was very professional, plus I had it coming with how uneven my hair bleaches anyways, so no surprises there. Know your hair before you go and review, it's not always their fault, it's your own hair's! Tamia was very gentle, very professional, overall I'm so glad I had her, probably happier to have her than she was to have me- overall it cost about 200 something dollars to bleach it, wash it, tone it and do something else to it, and cut it
Which brings me to reception!
They were great as well, my grandma paid and they did well to explain the system and even managed to get her an open spot for an impulse trim! Also, after they asked for your appointment details, they'd offer you a bunch of stuff which was great too.
The place itself was clean, the waiting area and hair area was separated, staff was sweet, and overall, it was a good experience for a teen who just won't leave...
Read moreNot very pleased with my experience at Kenneth’s. I had taken my daughter to Kenneth’s last month for a creative hair coloring. We were there for 7 hours because the appointment setter overbooked our stylist, and the pricing for our services was not stated until the hair coloring had already started. I paid over $700 (services, tip, and products) for a hair coloring that has started to fade before 4 weeks. This was not explained to me. I’m aware hair coloring will fade, but expected it to last longer than 3-1/2 weeks. Had I been told this information I would have had our stylist done something else to my daughter’s hair. We also paid for a hair cut, which could not happen on the same day because there was not enough time. I was fine with bringing her back the following week. All told l, I paid over $750 for this experience and feel short changed.I called a couple of weeks ago to ask if it’s normal to see dye after a wash and was told I could bring her back. We came in today and was told by the salon manager and the stylist I was told this information. Not sure if you have recordings of the salon, but I’m pretty sure none of this was stated until after the fact. I’m very disappointed and will not be coming back.
I’ve noticed management has responded to a lot of complaints except for the one I posted. I spent a lot of money at Kenneth’s and will gladly show anyone who wants to see receipts of how much I paid and pictures of the terrible dye job and piss poor customer service...
