After shopping pretty consistently at Hilltop for the past 2-3 years, unfortunately my positive feelings towards this shop have come to an end as of today. I visited Hilltop with my partner, and after poking around for 10ish minutes, was approached by a new employee(?) who asked me to leave my bag at the front desk. I typically would not be bothered by this, as this sort of treatment is typical of stores like SSENSE and Riccardi due to the value of the items within, however i couldnāt help but notice that out of the maybe dozen other people within the store, i was the only one asked. There is not to my knowledge, or ever has been a āno bagsā policy at this store, so it was very confusing, embarrassing, and made the whole experience incredibly uncomfortable. The kicker is that a woman asked immediately after if she should leave her tote bag, to which the employee answered āoh no maāam, thatās your purseā. I donāt know if this is completely unknown territory to the staff at Hilltop, but men such as myself also quite often carry purses. I donāt know if the assumption was that since i am young i would want to steal any of the poorly maintained and horrendously overpriced trinkets that suffocate the retail racks of the shop, but i would like the owners to realize that nobody in their right mind would need or want to steal from a store whoās most prized possessions are marked up second...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI tried to get information about consignment. The first woman that addressed me was very nice and informative. After speaking with this women with a pink skirt and jacket suit. I realized mid conversation that I need to look elsewhere. Not sure if it was the way I'm dressed. Or my appearance. However; after finding out what I want to consign, she kept pushing me to go to the antique store. Relentlessly on that talking point. I own and operate a online business. In all my years have I never been pushed out the door by anyone I know what I'm consigning and I know it'll sell. Why would someone turn business away? No clue, but I will never step foot in this establishment again. Noir anyone I know for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA really unique shop! I stopped in for the first time a few weeks ago and was welcomed warmly by the staff. I sadly cannot remember the name of the wonderful woman that welcomed me, but her humor and helpfulness were both a 10/10. I enjoyed wandering around and seeing what there was to see, there are lots of hidden gems within this consignment shop. I ended up leaving with a vintage skirt made in France and love it! I'll be back and I certainly recommend...
