Plato's Closet — Local services in Coon Rapids

My fiance and I like this clothing chain been there quite a few times last year and this year.i would have given 4 stars but after today's experience I can't. We came in to shop on 8/5/17 Saturday (today) around 6 pm. We both were excited to find a few pairs of jeans so we wanted to try them on. This is the Coon Rapids location and we have been there a couple of times before with the same employees working there and each time the guy and the lady were hovering over us coming out of the fitting rooms like we were going to steal something .(we were getting the Miss Me and Rock Revival brand jeans). Asked me the same question 3 times if I was going to buy all 3 pairs after I explained to her I'm waiting for my fiance to finish up in fitting room and let him decide which ones could we get. Followed us everywhere like puppies. Then she sent the guy over there while she was busy to keep an eye on us. We almost left, but we liked the jeans and purchased 5 pairs total. I really wanted to express my feelings about how obnoxious and rude they are since I was in retail business for over 20 yrs as an Assistant manager and a store Manager. I didn't want to cause a scene in front of other customers so I decided to write a review. We left with a bad taste in our mouth thinking we didn't like this kind of customer service at all. Also I think someone at a higher level should do something about this and train employees the right way ( and I think the blonde lady must've been an Assistant Manager or Key Carrier) because we can't be treated like this after spending so much money almost every time! I was at the Coon Rapids Platos Closet on 10/6/2013. I swung by to browse quickly because I was in the area. I was shopping for about 3 minutes when I realized that this very obnoxious person was yelling across the store and making very irritating loud noises. I carried on for a couple more minutes, ignoring him, when the music stopped and immediately after, this guy yells, "The store is closing in a few minutes please finish shopping!!!" I couldn't believe it. I went to the counter and realize that this same annoying guy is an employee, apparently his name is Franklin. I asked what time they closed and Franklin very rudely says, "In less than ten minutes." As I'm checking out he continues to yell across the store to other employees, very obnoxiously goofing around. I notice that the other two employees are over by the door gossiping heavily about other employees. The cashier looked embarrassed about what was going on, as I would be too. I left the store feeling very irritated as a customer and when I got in my car I realized that it was only 5:45, I would have had 15 more minutes. I worked resale for five years and I would have NEVER acted like that in front of customers. Apparently Plato's Closet is run by a bunch of immature high schoolers. Probably not going to that location again....

All things considered, 2 Stars.

The store is visually clean, and in a good location. I found a dress to buy.

Staff members, while polite, didn’t have a lot of information. I asked a few questions about what they but/don’t buy and the conversation was awkward. Nobody knew what to say.

I brought in a large bin of current, trendy, excellent condition, clean, wrinkle free, good smelling clothing. They took 6 items and paid $12.

I am perfectly fine with $2 per item. What’s puzzling is that they didn’t take more. Isn’t this the name of your game? Buying and selling clothing? The stuff I brought was very very nice. There is no reason they shouldn’t have taken them. If it’s because you already are swamped with inventory, then step it up and move inventory. Don’t misguide the people who are willing to sell to you. You don’t respect their time.

Then, In front of me, there was a man selling , and they bought a heaping bin from him- I peeked in it, and it was all the type of stuff that I threw away because it wasn’t “good enough” for resale. What in the world??
