I ordered silkworms from Reptilian Arts, which are described as being around ½ inch to 1 inch long. Several I received were much larger â some already full size â and too big for my juvenile dragon.
When I contacted them, they first insisted the sizing was correct. After I sent photos showing otherwise, they said it was âonly a couple long onesâ and offered to give me a few extra on my next order. That didnât feel fair, since I paid full price for all of them and shouldnât have to place another order just to be compensated.
The worms arrived alive except 2(which I expected), but Iâm disappointed with the inconsistency and how it was handled. If youâre ordering specific sizes, double-check before buying.
Edit: Iâm changing my rating to 1 star because this response is misleading and dismissive. The product description clearly says the silkworms are ½ to 1 inch, but several of the worms I received were well over that size right out of the box. Only a few were actually within the advertised range, which were the size I expected based on the listing and my research.
Yes, Iâm aware silkworms grow quickly, but if they had arrived at the proper size, I would have been able to safely feed them to my small juvenile bearded dragon and still have time before they grew too large. Trying to justify sending oversized worms by claiming they grow fast isnât acceptable when they already arrived too big to use.
Also, comparing silkworms to mealworms is completely inaccurate. Mealworms arenât suitable as a staple feeder, and itâs disappointing to see that recommended as if itâs equivalent. Iâve already ordered BSFL from another company and had a much better experience.

I signed up for a monthly subscription, set a date for payment off and when to send the items in my subscription. The company attempted to get payment a day before the scheduled date, when my money posted my order was split into 2 shipments (100 ct. Small mealworms, 300 small Dubai roaches, and a quarter pounder of their roach chow), and my card was attempted again with only the mealworms and roach chow, payment went through with a $8.95 shipping fee, I was then sent an email telling me to update my payment info for the Dubai roaches (and another $8.95 shipping fee. Mind you, the just separated my order, received payment, then emailed me to update card info. I cancelled my subscription orders and sent them an email on March 31st 2025. As of today April 5th 2025 I have yet to hear back from them. No email, no phone call, nothing but silence. I wanted to give a good review because the first 2 months of orders was good. This month not so much, bad enough for me to take my money and business elsewhere. At this point, I cannot wait to see what their reply to this bad review will be. What isnât clear is that if you purchase on Friday after hours then you wonât receive your shipment til 4-5 days later. I paid a good chunk for shipping to not receive it when it stated. Even emailed them about it and they did nothing to compensate just blamed me for not looking on the FAQ page. Rude customer service. Will not be ordering from here again. Also on my shipment page still shows processing, it hasnât even been sent out yet. Just frustrating. On top of that, when you click on the direct link from online it does not state that it would take 8 days to receive my package.
Instead of email and saying sorry for the inconvenience and letting me know that you upgraded my my package. You still continue to state that I was wrong and that it was completely my fault because I didnât check your FAQ page. I didnât read all the information even though when I checked out, I double checked to make sure it said next day shipping I wouldnât have ordered if it didnât state that so again you need to understand that youâre being completely rude to your customer.
