Our Place is a real small town, down home, every day breakfast eatery. Diane and Steve keep this place looking and running like the valuable asset to the community that it is! The food is GREAT. You get what you pay for. This is NOT a Custer or Hill City restaurant that over-charges you and under-feeds you. This is a place for locals who want to connect with their neighbors and other residents of the town - and for the transient seasonal vacation crowd to enjoy as well!
The interior is full of decorations from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s that I would see at my Grandma's country house - things that make you feel like you are part of the family here in this place. The food is traditional, country diner fare - it tantalizes the taste buds, comforts the mind, and sticks to your ribs.
Diane is a kind and thoughtful waitress/server with a smile, a kind word, and good heart.
Steve makes a KILLER meal - no matter what you are ordering he does a great job.
We are so thankful to have a place like this in our town, with kind and thoughtful people like this who have made a great places for us to go and share in Custer culture!
THANK YOU Diane and Steve for keeping Our Place open and running! And if the good Lord wills it, may you be able to do so for many, MANY years to come! We love and appreciate you, and we will be coming back as often as we are able!
Steve and Diane are working their TAILS off to try and keep this place open - after some setbacks. So GO IN, ENJOY THEIR AWESOME FOOD, TIP WELL, and consider leaving a little extra to help them keep this place open and running well!
This truly...
Read moreWent to Our Place for breakfast on our visit to the Black Hills/Custer, and I'd definitely go back again. Food was excellent, portions were large and prices were on par for what we got. Definitely a mom & pop type of atmosphere, but not out of the ordinary for a small-town cafe.
Our waitress had a little fun with my 13 year old son when he ordered the short stack of pancakes, which includes two cakes. She suggested he just have one pancake, but he was adamant he wanted two, so she made a bet with him: if he could eat BOTH of the (huge) pancakes, she'd give him a dollar, but if he couldn't eat everything, my son would owe her 10 push-ups. She said she's made this bet before and has paid out the $1 only once in the past. Our son made it twice, to her (and our) amazement, because the cakes really were HUGE.
All in all, a fun experience where we weren't expecting it. Great staff, excellent food. 10/10...
Read moreIf you are white and local to custer, you're more than welcome to stop right in. My family and I on the other hand were ovbiously not welcome there. My dad (Mexican), mom (asian) and I walked through the door (que record scratch) and it seemed like everyone just stopped what there were doing and almost everyone was staring at us. They all happen to be Caucasian. After we walk in the building we wait a minute for a host to seat us or even just someone to tell us to seat ourselves.. but nothing. So we start walking around the dining area and it seemed like the place was full. Again, people were staring at us an nobody said anything. We see a man standing behing the bar that also walked passed us twice and didnt say a word and ask him if there was any available seats. He just said no, and we left...
