i was hoping to get some advice seeing that this place has such high ratings. i called and spoke to raymond, to ask just a couple simple questions about a vintage watch that isn't keeping time accurately. i asked him if that is a fixable problem, and if so would he work on it for me, or if not, is it doable at home. now, i understand as a watch collector myself that timex watches aren't usually worked on for reasons of monetary value, and i have no issue with him refusing to work on the piece. the way he conducted himself is where i take issue. unbeknownst to him, since he couldn't help but talk over and berate me, i was willing to pay him what he wanted to fix the piece as it is sentimental to me.
he said, "it's Christmas right?" i said 'uhm.. yes?' he said "merry Christmas, go buy yourself a new watch. don't waste your time and throw it away" in about the most sarcastic tone i think i have ever heard.. i started to say 'look i understand you may not want to open up this piece, but can you just tell me if it is something i or anyone can attempt to fix?' before i could say that he cut me off and told me he was giving me "a piece of advice and to buy a new watch, that he works on rolexes and not to waste his time" he even had the audacity to tell me he was "being nice" before beginning to yell at me over the phone. this business has no respect for horology other than the money it makes them, which is fine, but don't be a complete asshat about it.
RAYMOND, you have serious anger problems. you're also a condescending jerk, how dare you try and imply you are acting in the spirit of Christmas. maybe you should look up what that truly means. absolutely abhorrent and shockingly unprofessional behavior.
EDIT: after looking at the yelp reviews, which i should have done before, it appears this shop also ruins watches and replaces them with fakes. i'm convinced now that all these 5 star reviews were bought with discounted service, or were left by customers who didn't know they were being taken advantage...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. My experience with this shop-specifically Anthony-was a nightmare. It started well enough, with great "appreciation" on Anthony's part for my business. Over roughly a month's time I spent over $2,100 dollars at this shop: $59 for battery in my wife's watch $430 to have a Breitling replica "serviced." $722 to then have my wife's watch "serviced & repaired." $916 to have two antique pocket watches serviced and valued. Anthony stated that I should ask $3,750 & $3,500 for the pocket watches and $1,100 (don't accept anything less than $700) for the Breitling replica. He is either clueless or a liar to get me to spend the $1,346 for "service." After listing the watches on multiple sites I didn't receive even 1 offer on the pocket watches and only offers of $100 or less on the replica after 3 1/2 weeks. I finally took the watches to a professional appraiser, who indicated that Anthony had no clue (or worse) about the value of the watches. He placed the value of the pocket watches at $250-$299 each and the replica at no more than $100. I returned to talk to Anthony and he was quite defensive and offered no resolution or even an apology. When I stated that if I had known-rather than trusting his "expertise"-that spending over $1,300 to retrieve at best $700, his response was "no one held a gun to your head." I am not sure if he is either clueless or duplicitous, but I would neither do business with him again, or suggest anyone else to this shop. It was stunningly unprofessional. Sadly, what started well, ended quite poorly. There are many better options...
Read moreAfter being a customer for over a year with different issues on my watches that were repaired somewhat in order and correct with no complaints, my last visit was total horror movie.
I broth in a watch for replacement of battery, when picked up some additional work was made without asking permission, when complained about watch not working being aligned properly as my chromo would start from 33 sec rather than 0 i got yelled out received GUN TREAT and that he will call police if i don't leave!!!!!
10 minutes don the road i maid some reason to him and he agrees to fix it for me, BUT later that day after it got fixed (i even got some gift, really after he wanted to basically kill me) time went off and there was a mark on hour hand.
I went to other shop expand situation and left it there, next day received a call from them that mark on hour hand is because hand got bended and that they needed to fix something in mechanism of watch costing me more money.
Remamber i took it in only and only to replace a battery and I got all of this...
that was my very last visit...
