I lived at 212 Melba the first 6 months of 2023, so some things may have changed. The fact that I still feel compelled to share my experience speaks volumes. Parking stickers are not fully enforced. When I lived there, I worked nights and frequently came home to find at least 8-10 cars parked in the very small garage with NO parking sticker. I am frequently forced to park on the streets while visitors of residents or residents who do not pay are safely in the garage. There was water leaking from the AC unit in the west stairway that caused mold to grow on the walls. It stayed that way for months. Packages were stolen by people who did not even live in the building because they were left in the lobby in view of anyone passing by. I had a ring doorbell and have footage of people sneaking in and ripping open packages then leaving the empty boxes behind. Many residents did not use the package service we were forced to pay for because they frequently lost packages. There were also no pet waste stations on the property so people would leave their pet waste in the trash can in the lobby. So the lobby frequently smells of feces. When the power goes out, residents are essentially locked in the building. It is nice that the hallway lights are connected to some sort or generator. Is it possible to also have the garage gate connected to said generator? The dumpster for the building is also way too small for the number of tenets. The dumpster is frequently full, so the chute gets clogged and then people just decide to pile trash in the trash rooms. The building also seems to attract questionable tenets because of the fact that there is no management on site. I frequently witnessed people coming in and out that appeared to be involved in some sort of illegal activity. There were also multiple domestic violence disturbances in my short time there from multiple different apartments (more than I had ever experienced). It is a small property, I don’t think this was a coincidence. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Edit: my experience living at Melba was so bad that I bought a house instead of dealing with this place for another year. Avoid at all costs. Hey Melba team, Just reaching out to see when the Wi-Fi will be turned back on. I’ve had a difficult time reaching anyone, and figured after calling emergency maintenance, the community manager, and emailing and not getting a response, that maybe this is the fastest way to find someone. I work from home so having the Wi-Fi drop for the third time since I’ve moved in is pretty frustrating. I sure am glad that you guys choose the internet provider so we have no communication with them - glad that you guys keep that info to yourselves so we can’t call and get updates. I look forward to eventually hearing anything regarding the Wi-Fi. In the meantime I’ll use my phone hot spot rather than the Wi-Fi I pay over $100/month for. Also please let me know if you’ll ever open the bike room, or if it’s now just permanent maintenance storage. Thanks, Nate

A lot of these reviews are from agents who are incentives to visit properties or people who only toured (supposedly) and don’t live there. Look at the rating from the people that actually have lived here. The security gate to the garage is always broken and the stairwell door in the garage isn’t secured so anyone that wanders into the garage can get to any resident floor (except the first for some reason, it locks). There aren’t parking spaces for everyone and you pay $100 for a non-assigned spot, and it doesn’t even guarantee you a spot because either people that don’t live there or pay for a spot are parked in the garage (and when you report it to management you’re told to call the tow company. Like it’s the residents responsibility and you know who is and isn’t a resident and are going to call the tow company at 10pm and wait for them to show and open a spot for you?). Most of them are compact only and trucks, SUV’s and even normal 4 door cars are so big they are double parked and no one can use the spots. Don’t expect to get your packages either they get left outside the building or in the lobby disappear and found open in the empty lot/alley behind the building. You’re told to use the service Fetch and have everything shipped to a different address and then schedule them to deliver later except they can’t always do same day and you have to wait even longer for your stuff. And it means you have a separate shipping address so good luck if someone wants to send you anything or surprise you. Even if you use Fetch and they deliver to your door with photos proof your packages disappear. Managements response is that you should check with your neighbors because maybe they accidentally picked it up (from in front of your door?) or that you should arrange your deliveries so that you can sign for them. You’re also charged for internet and have no choice but to use their provider who is not a real telecom but a shady ISP. The internet goes out as much as the elevator and gate and even when it is working it’s so slow you can’t even use Zoom if you work from home. Your speeds fall below 5mbps (you’re told you get 100+) and it’s two weeks of back and forth with White Sky trying to blame your computer and TVs for slowness, then saying you should move your equipment, then finally fixing it on their back end. It works for a few weeks then starts all over again and you have to go through the same process. It’s also not a secure network, a few weeks after moving in my speakers started getting hacked and I was told by White Sky themselves since you don’t have a router and the building is filled with “access points” that all residents use and have multiple passwords its basically a public network, their solution was to take my devices off the network and use my hotspot because they cannot guarantee the security. The worst is just the building itself, no idea how they can call this luxury. You’l always have some neighbor noise in an apartment but not kidding that I could hear the neighbor snoring through the wall, when their alarm went off, and all their other “activities”. You know when the person above you is showering or used the bathroom, if their phone is on vibrate, and if they wear their shoes or have a dog, good luck. If they smoke it all comes up through the junction boxes and vents (same for all the people that smoke in the stairwells and it gets not the halls). If you report a neighbor that is so loud and does so much that it literally shakes things off your wall that are hanging, managements response is “if it bothers you call the police”. Same if you mention that kids in the building are using the hallways as a playground, it’s your problem. I’ve never seen a building so low quality and cheaply built. That mixed with no onsite management and a management company that couldn’t care less about issues the place is nightmare to live in (maybe that’s why it’s been through 3 owners in 3 years and is so worn out). There are so many other newer, nicer and better managed options in Bishop Arts don’t even...

Current resident: Hallway carpets are disgusting. Your first problem was carpet. The gate to the garage is almost always broken along with the elevator. I was forced to pay 108$ a month for a tech package that includes internet that is out 10 to 15 days a month for hours at a time. We HAVE NO AMENITIES… no the fitness room that has a treadmill and a bike and is the size of a closet doesn’t count. Go a block over and pay the same amount or less for an apartment that has a resort style pool. Someone broke into another residents apartment despite the “security” and they never told us about it. We had to find out from our resident chat.

Save yourself some time. Go to Bishop North or one of the others that actually has amenities. I was forced to get Verizon Home Internet on top of what I pay for a dated Internet policy.

As you can see per their response to my review…. They couldn’t care less about providing the residents with a quality living experience. It’s excuse after excuse and gaslighting… No one said I was happy about your lack of offerings when I signed my lease. I was in the beginning of a divorce and desperate to get out of a less than...
