I lived at the madison one year and this was my experience:
-1 āļø: staff. A leasing team member came into my LOCKED apartment when I was gone, without notifying me, and placed an eviction notice on the interior side of my door. I was surprised to say the least when i walked in after work because i NEVER was late on a payment. After reading the notice, I realized it was not meant for me, but another tenant, placed in my unit mistakenly. Get this: not even one of the units next to me, it was someone entirely on a different floor. It was a careless mistake by staff and a violation of both mine and the other tenants privacy. I notified the leasing staff immediately of their mistake and also emphasized my disappointment. The only thing I received was a lackluster apology.
-1 āļø: Parking. When i toured The Madison parking was not shown, so I asked about it at the end of my tour and they ensured me that even though there are no guest parking spots, parking for residents is ample. I trusted the leasing agent however that was a mistake i realized quickly after moving in. For my building which was 4 floors, I will estimate conservatively with 10 units per floor, and just say one resident per unit. Thats 40 people, there were 15 parking spots available, unless you wanted to pay an additional fee for one of the 15 paid parking spots. This became an extreme stress for me as someone who works in office. Almost all of the spots were always full by people who im assuming work from home. I would get home from work around 6-630 and all the spots were full. There is street parking available but it is extremely scary at night, ive witnessed cars windows be smashed in and creepy individuals lurking. Im also someone who likes to workout before / after work. I physically could not because of the fear of not finding a spot at all, in the lot or on the street, and theres no gym in the complex. I also parked in a reserved spot once out of necessity during a snowstorm, and didnt want to move it until the weather was better and the Madison had my car towed.
-1 āļø: location. Its close to bishop arts but besides that nothing. My biggest struggle was not being near a grocery store or affordable restaurant. This in tandem with the parking made it disastrous for me. Driving to a grocery storeon the weekend was an hour of just driving due to dallas traffic. Same thing with a gym. And the closest ones are in south dallas, which is not safe.
-1 āļø: Communication. During my time living here the fire alarm went off three times. All three of which being in the middle of the night in the winter. We werenāt notified why the fire alarm went off in the first place or when it was safe to return inside the building. This was especially poor/concerning communication when it was snowing in at 3am. Thankfully other residents and i approached the fire fighters after a while of waiting who informed us it was safe.
Overall i picked this building because it seemed updated and good enough for a cheap one bedroom, but based on my experience this is a mistake and i urge others who are new to the area and living alone to not make the same mistake.
Also shoutout the maintenance staff they were kind and worked in a timely manner, but I also had to have many interactions with them beacuse of my various maintenance issues in the year...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI resided at The Madison at Bishop Arts for 14 months, from July 2022 to September 2023. Unfortunately, my experience here was less than satisfactory.
One of the major issues I faced during my stay was the persistent bug problem. We found a few roaches. Additionally, Silverfish, and fruit flies were a constant presence in our unit, making it an uncomfortable living environment. Over the time living there we found a total of 7 crickets, which is concerning because we lived on the top floor.
Another significant drawback was the lack of essential amenities. The absence of a gym and a pool left residents with limited options for recreation and fitness, which was disappointing, especially considering the rent paid.
The occurrence of power outages was a recurrent problem, causing inconvenience and discomfort during hot Texas summers and colder months. They lasted between a few seconds up to hours.
Package theft was also a concern in the complex. Numerous residents, including myself, had issues with packages being stolen, and it seemed like the security measures in place were insufficient to address this recurring problem.
Next, the emergency maintenance number is non existent. I was locked out of my apartment after hours and tried to contact the listed after hours number. I was routed to a call center that was no help. They just said they'd create a ticket. I ended up paying for a locksmith.
Also, the building is right next to an at&t maintenance building. They had a very sensitive alarm system that would go off at 2 am and would wake you up in the middle of the night.
Finally, I would just like to caution that you will probably not recieve your deposit back if you end up living here. I was charged to repaint our entire unit despite doing touch up paint and a walk through with the front office. Typical practice is for apartments to repaint between all tenants, but this was the first time I was charged for this.
In conclusion, my experience at The Madison at Bishop Arts was marred by pest problems, a lack of amenities, power outages, and issues with the deposit policy. I would caution potential tenants to thoroughly consider these aspects before deciding to live at this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved in the beginning of June. I kept circling back to these apartments because they were in a really dope spot and seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
From the beginning, Sophie, the manager at this complex, provided the most helpful, welcoming, and genuine experience. All the questions I had, she would answer pretty quickly and kindly. I felt bad for being such a hassle, but I was moving in from Austin so I just wanted to be extra careful with my living situation selection. So huge shout out to Sophie for being such a kind, patient, and welcoming manager!
I've been living here for 2 months now, and so far I LOVE it. Very chill atmosphere. The building is new so it feels and looks very clean and modern. And the location is unbeatable. The Bishop Arts District is literally down the street, so it's close enough to enjoy, but far enough to not get bothered by its crowd. Jefferson street is also a couple blocks away, which I love because they have good selection of authentic Mexican restaurants, as well as other Mexican owned businesses!
My only complaint is that the building is still not all the way done. The elevator is still not working in my building (which is the new building). And sometimes the noise from the construction workers in the morning can get irritating (as well as the fire alarm maintenance). However, it's chilled down in the past week, I'm guessing they're about to wrap up and be fully done.
I am falling in love with my space every day, more and more. And I also want to shout out their maintenance team, they are QUICK and cool people. My service requests get taken care quickly. I'm really happy living here. It was important for me to live somewhere pretty, where management cared, and maintenance was on their game, and this place does that.
Hope someone finds...
