My only complaint about this FREE PLAY location is that some of the video games were filthy and a few actually SMELL BAD. I don't have a very good sense of smell compared to many other people, but could smell the strong typical dirty plastic scent in a few of the video games. ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS DISINFECT OR SANITIZE THE GAMES COMPONENTS (JOYSTICKS, BUTTONS, ETC) ON A REGULAR BASIS. The hosts at the front counter at the entrance said only their maintenance repair technician was allowed to disinfect the games and their components. Maybe that is their policy. Why was it not being done often? I will say that there were some of my very favorite 1980's video games there that were a sentimental journey back to my quarter spending youth, like Road Blasters and Tetris. Speaking of Tetris, here is a brief history of this 40 year old classic arcade game. The name Tetris (coined by Pajitnov) derives in part from the Greek prefix tetra-, meaning "four," a reference to the fact that each block consists of an arrangement of four adjoining cubes (known among gamers as tetrominos). You earn the most points when you fill 4 lines with the drop of the long straight bar shape puzzle piece after carefully arranging randomly dropped previously placed puzzle pieces, which there are 7 possible shapes, each being a different color for helpful reference. I hope to upgrade this location to a 5 star rating in the future. The experience, overall, was still good. To wrap this up, I can proudly say that certain video games, played in moderation, can help keep your mind and coordination good and sharp. This is true in games like TIME CRISIS, DANCE REVOLUTION, AREA 51, POLICE TRAINER, GUITAR HERO, SPY HUNTER, and POLE POSITION. Not ALL of these games are at this FREE PLAY LOCATION; I just want to mention games I like that keep my hands, feet, and eye coordination strong and good, and have fun at...

Super impressed with the arcade…. Massive selection of games, value for money, something for everyone and great job with the daily specials and menu. All of that gets 5 stars straight out of the gate.

But here’s what stood out even beyond the 5 stars: some game titles I haven’t seen since I was a teenager. Pacland being one of them. Just haven’t seen that out in the wild despite visiting as many arcades as possible. the games are incredibly well maintained. The techs obviously do an incredible job, and I hope they are appreciated for it because there are so many rogue operators out there — Free Play isn’t one of them.

The pinballs are spotless, arcade cabs all are working and the monitors bright and tight.

How many times have you gone to an arcade like this only to find a bunch of games out of service? Not here. There was only one game out of service out of what I think would be 100+ games, and it was possibly the newest game on the floor (Pulp Fiction) which points more towards Chicago Coin’s manufacturing rather than anything Free Play can control.

In all, really nicely done! Obviously if you’re considering coming here, you need to stop considering, and come by to enjoy what they have to offer, as this is among the best of the best of...

This is my second visit to a free play location and it didn't disappoint. I'm so glad I have one so close to home now.

This arcade is HUGE! So many vintage games, Japanese games, some rare games and pinball machines! I arrived at 11am on a Saturday and pretty much had the entire pinball section to myself for about two hours. There may have been 25 people total in the arcade during that time. I was surprised since it was a Saturday. I also got in for half price since I arrived during the first hour. Not sure if that's just a weekend thing or also during the week.

I tried the Cuban sandwich and it was pretty good!! A great selection of beers, ciders, sours and cocktails. The service was great. The staff was so friendly and only took about 10 mins to get my order. There are tons of tables and high tops to sit at while you enjoy your food/drinks. During my time there the staff was wiping down tables and games.

Awesome experience and definitely can't wait to go back. Hoping for pinball tournaments to start at this...

We stumble upon this place after having dinner near by. What a fantastic place to spend a few hours at a great price. Would definitely come back next time we are in town.

Free Play is a great place to play nostalgic arcade games. For $12, you get unlimited play on a decent selection of games, from Galaga and Pac-Man to Killer Queen and more niche games. Family friendly before 9 pm, 21+ at night until closing. Good place to bring kids and let out their energy, or come with friends for a fun night out. We came for New Years Eve, which included a mini buffet, midnight confetti and noisemakers, a great view of Reunion Tower fireworks, and a late night cereal and waffle bar. Bartenders are friendly and offer an extensive selection of beer and liquor, plus several non-alcoholic drinks. The food is typical bar food and expensive for what you get. The personal pizzas are tiny compared to the prices. I highly recommend eating before you come. Finding a parking spot can be tough on weekends and when the place is crowded, but you can park nearby for free and walk a short distance to the door. Great retro arcade and a fun addition to the Trinity Groves neighborhood of Dallas.
