Winsome Prime – Dallas: A “One and Done” Experience
We had a 6:45 PM reservation on Sunday, August 10, 2025, and arrived promptly at 6:43. Instead of being seated, we were told our table would be “about 10 minutes” and were directed to a holding area near the bar—facing a slatted wall—with menus in hand. At 7:10 PM, just as we were ready to leave for a nearby restaurant I had found, the hostess finally appeared to seat us.
We had chosen Winsome Prime because it was participating in Dallas Restaurant Week and seemed like a good fit for a special night out. Once seated, our server took our orders and, nearly 35 minutes after arriving, we finally were in “dinner mode.”
What stood out most—before the food—was the restaurant’s very firm dress code, prominently featured on their website: Evening, Business Casual, and Professional wear required. No beachwear, overly revealing clothing, sweatpants, tank tops, jerseys, baseball caps, etc. My wife and I dressed accordingly—I wore a sport coat and dress slacks, and my wife wore a cocktail dress and heels. Yet inside, we saw guests in T-shirts, jeans, low-rise pants revealing underwear, gym shoes, and shorts. I enjoy both dressing up and dressing down, but if a restaurant emphasizes strict dress standards (and repeatedly reminds patrons of them), then seeing them so openly disregarded was disappointing—and frankly, misleading.
The food itself was good, though not remarkable, and we were determined to make the most of the evening. Dessert was included in the Restaurant Week menu: my wife chose French Toast, I chose rum butter cake—both served, according to the menu, with ice cream. When our plates arrived, the ice cream was missing. We flagged our server, who went to the kitchen, then returned with two small bowls of whipped cream, explaining they were “out of ice cream.” Things happen, it’s hard not to wonder—shouldn’t that have been mentioned before serving dessert?
Dallas is currently experiencing a boom in new restaurants, many offering unique experiences and attentive service as they compete for diners’ time and dollars. Sadly, Winsome Prime failed to deliver on both. And when you see a sign at the hostess stand reading, “A 20% gratuity will be added to all checks,” you have to wonder—if the product and service were truly exceptional, would this be necessary?
For us, Winsome Prime is firmly in the “one and done” category. With so many exciting dining options in Dallas, there’s simply no reason to return.
Update: Since posting my review, there have been a couple of updates. Regarding the dessert comments, we found images of both the French Toast and Rum Butter Cake posted by other customers. In addition to being shorted on the ice cream, we also had reduced portions and missing the fruits that accompany the orders.
Additionally, both my wife and I have been dealing with stomach issues starting the next day later in the afternoon, after dining at the restaurant and it continues through...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I have experienced so far.Me and a group of friends attended win some prime for my wife's birthday. We were in Houston from California to help our daughter move in her dorm. Being that Houston has never failed us I figured we could try a steakhouse out there. Unfortunately for us we chose this place. First off the waiter was getting a little frustrated because we were asking questions. First red flag. Then we ordered drinks two people got the same drink and it was noticeably different right away. When tasting the drinks we figured out these are different. 2nd red flag. We had a reservation at 9:00 we got set down about 9:10 we ordered drinks then we ordered our food at approximately 9:20. At 10:00 the way to return to our table to check on us this is when someone asked him how much longer for the food I was sitting closest to him. Accidentally said I forgot to, and himself mid-sentence. I told everyone at the table he forgot to put the ticket in. Now it is approximately 10:45 we still have no food, as we begin to look around we notice everyone that came in 30 minutes to an hour after us has their food. We asked to speak with the manager and she does apologize and tell us that the kitchen is backed up but I was trying to get her to understand the food is not late because the kitchen is backed up the food is late because he never put the ticket. At this point we also express to her that everybody who came after us is eating some people have already got their check it's 11:00 we still have no food. She offered us some champagne to compensate which none of us really wanted finally the food comes out about 11:15ish none of the Steaks were prepared correctly for instance someone got a well-done ribeye when it came out it was pink. We flagged the manager down which took the state back and said she would bring it up to temperature. When I brought it back it looked like a lump of coal just black burnt nobody was going to eat it. A few people ordered the blackened fish which was very underwhelming not seasoned at all I believe they were rushing to get the food out so why we ended up with food like we did. At the end of it the manager said she would take off 15% okay cool. She took off the 15% but left on the gratuity which didn't make sense we paid more in gratuity than she took off. A buddy of mine called the next day and spoke to a different manager and he was able to get some of his money back for the rest of us it was just a horrible experience and remember this was my wife's birthday!! My cousin who was there is big on tiktok she has a review up over there with pictures go check it out. For a Monday or Tuesday that place is probably fine but don't go there for any special occasion Houston is full of great places with great food don't let...

The drive to Winsome Prime was a bit long but that is expected for most places in Dallas. This is a highly talked about franchise. We had a reservation for a birthday celebration and made sure to dress appropriately as stated on their site.
The parking lot was full and the building would be easily missed but they have a large sign out front that shows you are in the right place. You need to watch for the turn into the lot as there is no indication a restaurant is there.
We went in and were seated after a short time which was nice. They were not full. The layout and design reminds you of a club or bar in Vegas and the music being played from a live band was a nice touch for the atmosphere.
We were seated and the manager said our server would be with us. She came over introduced herself and asked us about drinks and appetizers. We placed the orders for an old fashion, and wine and the crab beignets, lemon pepper wings, shrimp and oysters.
The food was not the best. The crab beignets were very plain on the inside and they did not give the feel of a beignet at all. The lemon pepper wings were neither lemon nor peppery. The shrimp were good. The oysters were disappointing, they looked like they were cut in half and put in a shell with a lot of char on them. The drinks were very over price and watered down.
The food ordered disappointed as well. The burger had a pearl on a stick and it was ordered well done. It came out medium rare (we cut it in half to check). We sent it back and it returned on a new bun with the same burger that we cut. The lasagna was ordered by two people and each portion was completely different. One had more sauce one had no sauce and a lot of meat. One person at our table waited for her food for 40 mins and we were told they meal wasn’t correct and they were preparing it again. When it came out it was cold and still wrong.
The evening was made better with the music from the band but the food left us feeling down. The cake and ice cream came for the birthday girl and surprisingly, it was delicious.
The server packed the food for us and brought us the check. The bill was over 500 with the gratuity auto added no matter the party size. We paid and part of the group left.
One person stayed behind at the table with her drink waiting for our friend in the bathroom…a manager came over to the table and told her he needed it for another party. No thanks or asking how it was just sit eat and get out.
I am disappointed in the first and last...
