I would like to report 2 different terrible experiences at the Williams Sonoma store at North Park Mall, in Dallas, TX.
I recently became a cardholder and on my first trip, I made a purchase of 2 jars of pumpkin butter. I was given an open jar that leaked everywhere, so I had to waste time and gas to drive back up to the mall for an exchange. There was a sign that said cardholders receive a 20% discount on their purchase. I didn't receive that discount until the next day when I had to do an exchange and that was only on half of my purchase.
My 2nd trip was worst. After a movie, my family and I went to do a little shopping at Williams Sonoma, again at North Park. My family and I were followed by an associate, the associate took my items away from me which made my family and I feel degraded since she didn't do that to anyone else. I should probably mention that I am Hispanic, my ma is Mexican and my husband is Caucasian. We had our 2 children with us as well.
Feeling racially discriminated against, I decided to cut my shopping trip short. I paid for my items, where I was greeted by a cashier who rolled her eyes when I gave her my $20 welcome reward for becoming a cardholder. They looked it me like I was committing fraud, it felt like. I asked her if the store was still doing the 20% off for card holders. She nodded yes like I was an idiot for asking, yet it was not added to my purchase upon looking at my receipt.
I've never been treated so badly and left the store in near tears, I'm more upset that my ma and children had to witness that. I intend to pay off the small balance on my card...
Read moreI received a wedding gift from here over 2.5 years ago. I returned it because it arrived broken. In the process of returning it, I was told that Williams Sonoma would mail a physical gift card for store credit. The card never arrived. I later learned that it had been voided and there were no attempts by Williams Sonoma to notify us about any issues. I contacted the store two years later and was told that there was a “store error” with shipping the gift card. I was then told that Williams Sonoma would issue an e-merchandise gift card for the original gift and that I would receive it within a week. A week later there was no card. I contacted Williams Sonoma and was told that the e-merchandise card had been issued to the original purchaser (i.e. a wedding guest who bought the gift for my husband and me). After waiting and talking to customer service for about an hour, I was told that the e-merchandise card could not be reissued via mail, but that a physical card would be sent via post. Clearly this is a problematic process for this store. Poor customer service, repeatedly. Rather than ensuring that their mistakes had been rectified, this store continued to complicate matters every...
Read moreI'll own it - after spending over an hour online arguing with the Williams Sonoma/ Pottery Barn customer service team online, I walked into this store ready for a fight. The customer service agents Luckia and Richard when I called said they wouldn't honor gift cards that I had, but when I asked for the manager at this NorthPark location, the clouds parted, the sun came out, and Perry not only said that there was not a problem, she sold me what I wanted, plus a lot more and has me excited about shopping with her again tomorrow! Online shopping is great, but nothing can replace the customer experience of someone who loves where they work and what they do. Perry is a true professional and knows her stuff. Such a pleasant, empowering experience that I can't wait to do again, and again, and again. This has changed my entire attitude about Williams Sonoma, and I will happily spend more than I would have online to have the security that I am working with a true culinary professional that will help me purchase...
