Edit on 7/26/25: The owner gave me a call and apologized for the interaction, that that's not what the store supports. I am so relieved! It's important to have a reliable tech store within a distance I can navigate without GPS + they have at least normal people values. I'll be going in the afternoons when a different employee is working and I think it'll be clear skies going forward. OG Review on 7/25/25: I dropped my lenovo touchscreen laptop off on 7/23/25 for a battery check + reset. Battery check, being an easy diagnostic, was free and when it came back all good I realized I couldn't reset (did not want to kill my Sims saves). During the check-in process, I was helped by one a male employee. It was an unfortunate check-in experience and I will do my best to avoid these people and this entire company in the future.
Check-in was normal until I mentioned AI. Employee then started showing me AI family guy videos on the center's computer (not the issue). I mentioned how AI is a learning language model as he disagreed with me (not the issue, again). He then went on to mention TikTok and how it spies on people and how the democrats are afraid of it (first issue). He then began discussing rednote and the various things that show up in his social media feed including baking, bodybuilders, and a few other items.
The second, and main, issue is that he referred to women as females when he informed me of the women bodybuilders that appear in his RedNote feed. I corrected him and informed him that the term female is dehumanizing and that women are not breeding animals such as cows, chickens, and pigs, livestock. The employee bent down as if to grab something and muttered, "Well, it's what God intended." I then told him that women should be referred to as women, or ladies, or girls if they're children. Perhaps I should clarify, nothing about trans people occurred in this conversation (I am LBTQ+). The employee then stared at me and I had to prompt him to finish the check-in process as I wanted to leave.
I left as fast as I could. I only let them do the battery check because it was free. But I would be more than happy to fork over a generous amount of money to not deal with that ever again. I can't believe they'd hire someone like this. So yikes! Can't believe this is what the owner wants and what the company...
Read moreI lost my administrator's ability on my personal laptop, I couldn't delete or change things without logging in as administrator. I called Computer Repair Center and explained the problem to the tech. He said that he couldn't do much over the phone. So I took it to their shop. The tech checked it over and said that they could clean the hard drive an reinstall Windows. I had them replace Windows 11 back to Windows 10. They said they recommend 10 over 11, and my son-in-law, who's also a computer tech in Florida said the same. I took it in on a Tuesday afternoon and received a call Thursday morning that it was ready. They quoted me a cost Tuesday which was very reasonable. When I picked it up the tech wanted to know if I was a Vet. I showed him my Drivers license which state that I'm a Vet. The he said that I would get a 10% off, I couldn't believe it. They also saved all my files that I had on the desk top and all of my bookmarks etc. I had to reinstall some programs, but that gave me time to go over the programs and think, Do I really need that program. I would recommend Computer Repair Center to anyone needing service to their computer, They're honest, fair priced, and very helpful and understanding. ( I had been told this from a computer store earlier in the week that these were the parts I needed to replace) I had a friend say I should get a second opinion and she gave me 2 names of different computer repair shops. I called Computer Repair Center in Davenport, IA and I know the Lord directed me to this one. They had 3 wonderful people assisting me - the owner, Heather and her 2 employees Zach and Patrick which were fantastic in helping me. After the diagnostic test I was told there was nothing wrong with the computer and all he had to do was reset the bios. I would highly recommend this shop...
