The experience I had at the Pet Supermarket located at 2508 N. Decatur, Georgia 30033 on July 14, 2018 was absolutely abhorrent! I reported to Pet Supermarket to attend the Adopt A Kitten Event that was advertized to begin a 1p.m. I was warmly greeted by a male employee who informed me that the kittens arrival would be delayed until 2p.m. and he encouraged me to return to the store after completing additional shopping at the Toco Hills Plaza. I returned promptly at 2pm. I then reported to the area in the store where the Kitten Adoption was taking place. I immediately located my kiitten preference, and made several attempts to greet and gather Patty's of Patty's Kitties attention, but was ignored amidst her dignifying and having verbal engagement with other customers. I then heightened my interest in pursuing a kitten adoption, and Patty Scott pressed to ask me if I had ever owned a kitten. I informed her that I had. Patty then she asked me if I would adopt the kitten's brother. I replied, Oh,no, I just want one." Patty then declared that research evidenced that kittens should be adopted in pairs, and then told me that she would not go further in the adoption process. She persisted staing that I had never purchased a kitten from her, then said she would not do business with me unless I was interested in adopting 2 kittens. I shared that i had waited for an inordinate amount of time to view the kittens. She stated that she didn't know why i had waited, and began chastizing me for not reading the sgn on the outside of the Store, ask me why was i even at the adoption event. When i attempted to make inquiry regarding her policy and practice not known to any customer, she again restated she would not do business with me. The adverse consequence of her discourteous behavior and hateful demeanor resulted in a stream of Adoption Event patrons leaving the kitten adoption area and completely turned off to continue shopping in the Pet Supermarket. Until today, I have enjoyed a longstanding customer service relationship with the Pet Supermarket Team. But, Patty's ancilliary business attachment does not mirror the message , or the mission of Pet Supermarket business, the corporation, or its employees. I am requesting a through investigation and interruption of the business contractor partners' behavior, and a return of outreach to me regarding a suitable resolution to the above consumer concerns. I would strongly recommend that any contractor operation being placed at pet Supermarket undergo and complete Customer Service training. I have reported the above said incidence to the Pet Super Market Corporate Office for further investigation and immediate actions...
Read moreSome of the staff are helpful, but some are truly not. Apathetic, disengaged, and seemingly just annoyed by the presence of customers has been my experience with some of them. I've had great experiences with a couple, but lately the new folks they have hired have been really difficult to interact with. If I have a question about a sale or an item, they either give me a blank stare or say "I don't know" without doing anything to try to find the answer. A couple interactions that come to mind are:
A few months ago, the store had a gift with purchase offer. Buy so much of a certain brand, and you could get a gift card. I met the threshold to get the gift card, but the young man at the register had no knowledge of the sale. I explained the promotion to him, but he just shrugged and said, "That would probably be in your email, I don't know anything about that." He rung me up without adding the promotion. I went and took a picture of the sign and showed it to him. He was visibly annoyed. Since he didn't apply the promotion at the start of the sale, he would have to re-ring my whole order, but he didn't listen when I told him about the promotion at the beginning. His irritation made the atmosphere palpably uncomfortable, but I couldn't understand why he wouldn't try to do his job & get more information before just shrugging me off.
This week, the store had a sign on the door stating that there was a sale going on, 25-50% off. When I went in the store, I didn't see any items tagged for the sale. When I got to the cashier with my order, I asked her which items the sale applied to. Her response, "I don't know. I would have to ask a manager, I'm new." She then proceeded to ring me up and not ask a manager. Confused, I asked her, "Do you know if it applies to what I'm buying?" Impatiently, she said, "Again, I don't know." It's her job to find out and she made zero effort to do so. Why would I pay full price for items if they're potentially on sale? How hard is it to take a few seconds to ask a manager? I can't understand it. I left and went to Pet Smart.
Anyhow, I am disappointed overall with how some of their front staff interact with customers. These are just two interactions of several unpleasant ones I have had with certain employees. They're not all unpleasant to interact with, but those who are really sour...
Read moreDO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. I wish zero stars was an option. I rescued a rabbit from a family who originally purchased him here. This business not only sold them the rabbit, but also pushed them to buy an extremely small cage — one that would barely be suitable for a small bird. It provided no proper foot support and left the animal living in miserable conditions for far too long.
This is not the family’s fault — they were given poor guidance and encouraged to buy inadequate housing. The real issue is that this business promotes harmful animal care practices and lacks proper education about the needs of the animals they sell.
If you give your money to this business unfortunately you are incidentally supporting animal cruelty.
Do better, Pet Supermarket. Stop selling rabbits and other animals for profit. Focus on selling quality animal supplies only — and leave animal care and rehoming to reputable rescues...
