I went to Edru yesterday for the first time attending a birthday party for my cousin's 8 yr old daughter; I also had my 2 young children. I cannot personally say anything negative about the facilities overall, the skating area looked clean and everything overall looked okay and everything overall looked clean.. just nothing else was up to par. The workers were all very unhelpful, to start. From the guy working the skate rental counter to whoever was supposed to be working the door as well as the prize counter... very bad customer service. Skate rental area has 2 places to rent, but they ignore you unless you go to the correct window. At one point I had to go to my car to get something and I made sure that I would be able to get back and no problem, but when it came time for me to get back all of the doors to get into the building were locked and I had to stand ringing a "call" doorbell for almost 10 minutes before someone came to the front window to let me back in. Then when it came time to trade in arcade tickets my kids had earned, both ticket redeeming machines were broken so I had to go stand at the counter, along with a whole group of other people who were waiting as well, because there was nobody at the prize counter area for over 15 minutes. Also, with the party, they brought out the pizza but did not bring drinks out for anybody for almost 30 minutes after the pizza came out (there were multiple parties going on, which I understand, but you should try and get food and drink out around the same time at least). All the kids were complaining how thirsty they were. Overall, the place seems very messy and not very well managed....
Read moreWe recently had our daughters birthday at Edru Skate, we booked a combo package and added extra pizza, pop, bread sticks and game tokens. In our opinion the bread sticks were overpriced and weren't very good. No complaints on the other foods though. Laser tag was a lot of fun, I believe it was 12-13 minutes game time. There were ramps and walls to hide behind, the room was quite large for the laser tag, would totally do that again! Also note, ANYONE under 18 (and over 3 years old) coming to the party will be charged admission even if they don't plan to skate! They will need a wrist band which costs $20.50 for each additional band over the 10 guests included in package. Adults who plan on coming to the party are welcome to come in for free BUT if they want to skate they have to pay admission PLUS skate rental fees!!! Which also adds up $ quickly and this wasn't explained to us at all until the day before our party. Just be aware of that sillyness when planning. Overall we had a great party experience, we felt the party is rushed. By the time guests get settled and claim their skates there's only a few minutes before food which immediately after that we had laser tag. Got to skate a few more laps before ice cream then I was handed the bill. Our time was over with not much skating time. Also didn't open presents since we ran short on time. We were able to move all our stuff to another table inside the arcade area but many of our guests said they too...
Read moreWent to celebrate my 9 year old nieces bday and was unpleasantly overwhelmed by unsupervised pre-teens/teenagers. There was no form of supervision from the employees and the kids’ parents obviously weren’t there to supervise them either. The amount of bullying and riff raft was at an all time high! There was a child that lost an iPhone and about 30 minutes after hearing about it on the loud speaker he aggressively approached me accusing me of taking his phone. That made me and my whole family especially the children we brought feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Fortunately there was one good employee there to intervene and control the situation. I really wish I could remember her name she was understanding and very on point getting the situation under control to her best ability. On the other hand the supposed owner/manager Lysney Jackson was very rude, and unprofessional dealing with the issue. I requested a refund for my entire party and was only offered a small percentage of the admission we paid back. The fact that I’ve grown up in Lansing and came to this business over the last 20 plus years and never had an issue like this is sad! EDRU’S NEEDS BETTER SUPERVISION AND STAFF TO ENFORCE THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS PERIOD! I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FAMILY BASED BUSINESS BUT ALL I SEE AS OF LATELY IS A PLACE FOR UNFIT PARENTS TO DROP THEIR BAD BEHAVED KIDS OFF TO GET A FEW HOURS...
