Buddies Grill — Restaurant in Delhi Charter Township

Been here multiple times. Service isn't usually that great but the food is good. My bf and I needed some food fast and inexpensive because we were feeding our 5 kids and ourselves, after a tball game. 5 kids under 7 aren't that patient late in the evening. Someone suggested buddies pizza was good. so we were ready to order right away. To start off, hostess sat us and there were 3 chairs missing so we were standing at the table while he rallied up some chairs. (made us feel so awkward while people were staring wondering what we were doing) we were Ready to order before we even got there so we could expedite the outing, it took awhile to be acknowledged by our server. moving along to the food portion.... received 1 ranch and 1 marinara for 7 people, missing two plates for our app and pizza, refills were brought and didn't take 'old' cups or cleared any plates. (sorry as a previous server its a pet peeve) Pizza was not good! second pizza had to be remade bc server dropped the second pizza (things happen we understood that part of the night). Pretty irritated with how long we were there, after thinking pizza wont take long we should be in and out, it was under cooked (both) and didn't get 1st pizza for an hour after we ordered and 1 hr 20 minutes for the second after we ordered. Get our bill and sorry but as someone who has worked in the service industry for about 13 years you make things right with the customers for the mistakes you make. We weren't asking for the whole bill but seeing as how we waiting over an hour for our second pizza, it wasn't until my boyfriend went and complained to a manager, and only after she came over to see that we didn't eat one of the pizzas and boxed half of the other that we were comp'd a pizza. Unfortunately we can't go out that often with having a large family but like the treat the kids from time to time, it helps us out also and we were very bummed when we received poor hospitality. Wish there was a way to message the manager but there isn't any contact email on the website. Wouldn't recommend the pizza and wouldn't recommend going there when you are in a hurry. Cheese bread was very good though, as long as you get a plate...

Oh Buddies. What is happening! I'll start by saying that I visited very frequently for the past decade or so. Great experiences until roughly six months ago.

We will start with tonight. Got seated in the back room corner at the smallest table(seats 2 people). With literally less than 10 people seated in that room. Two adults and a toddler barely fit there without food on the table. Everything was great. Food ordered. Appetizer came out in good time But oddly enough, it was way overcooked. While waiting (45 minutes) for our entrees, the server came by.....holding a baby..... There were plates that needed to be cleared (petpeeve of former waitress) and my water was empty. Food came. Toddlers burger was undercooked. My tortillas were rock hard. Pretty difficult to enjoy. Never came to see how the food was. Water still empty. Toddlers full meal pushed to the end of the table. Nothing. As I was getting up with my empty cup to go fill it myself, I see the server snap at the busser to get her a water and an iced tea. She then comes over asks if we need anything. I say water and she goes "yep, I'm getting it" are You? Because I've been here for over an hour now without a refill. I asked for a box. Took forever. Asked for the check. Weird, it came right away. Never drank the second water as I couldn't wait to get out the door fast enough.

I'M SORRY, working in the industry taught me a few things. If your table isn't eating their food, there is obviously an issue. There are people that aren't easy to please but at least try. Your guests can see the volume of the restaurant. Your guests can also see roughly how many tables you are taking care of. Our server had one other table. Mind blown.

That being said, we were not offered dessert nor did my child get his ice cream that came with his undercooked meal that was left...

7/5/21 UPDATE

Had basket of fries, son had Cesar salad and spinach and artichoke melt sandwich... Both were outstanding... We have eaten many things here and they don't disappoint... Misty again provided outstanding service... I want to give honerable mention to Owen whom I never mentioned but always provided outstanding service and remembers your name... And check this out, he seats people and cleans tables

UPDATE....I'm here more often and have a shout-out to Misty!! AWESOME! Deserves 6 stars... Food, drinks, atmosphere... Very inviting....

Great food and happy hour... always clean... service is good with the exception of only one server... if you get her you will know it... that's the only reason why I gave only 4 stars.. (sorry Buddies, but it is what it is)

The scoop on Buddies:

There is no misrepresentation of this establishment... it provides exactly what, and at the level, one would expect for the money.

The atmosphere has been pleasant and inviting... with the exception of observing multiple customers having problems with one server.

Let me explain.. during the the time of covid-19 there Michigan dining was outdoors for a while... I used to go to the patio and have food/drinks... usually she was a server... she is slow, rude, doesn't bus tables, etc.... I witnessed several customers complain about it.

Ah, let's talk about food.. What can I say, its delicious! Never had anything bad... But check this out, if you want a snack instead of a meal, I recommend a basket of fries... they are the bomb and huge portion too.

Last but not least, try a huge mug of beer for $3 after 2pm... happy hour!
