I had the worst experience ever today at Norman Love Confections, 1911 S. Federal Highway, Delray Beach, FL!!! I wanted a cup of coffee, so I walked in. There were two girls there, one on a laptop and one with a dog that was growling at everyone (at least I think the one with the dog was a girl because she was 6’1” and weighed more than me but that’s none of my business). I asked the girl on the laptop, what was good to order there, since I have never been there before, so she gave me a few suggestions. I then ordered the White Chocolate Mocha. As I was waiting for my beverage to be prepared, the big one started striking up conversation with me, asking where I was from, etc. No harm, no foul, right?

After paying for my coffee, I then tipped the cashier a couple bucks and even had her charge me an extra $10, in case the girls that were helping me wanted to snack on something later (they looked like they might be there for a while). After sitting down and returning some emails, I then walked over to the girl on the laptop and asked what time her zoom meeting was over, so that I could come back and talk to her. She said 12pm, so I left and came back at 12pm (about 45 minutes later).

Here’s where it gets interesting….

As soon as I walked back in, the big one with the dog starts berating me and asking me “Why did you come back?!!”, “What are you doing here?!!”, “How did you know when her meeting was over?!!”, etc. It was clear to me that 1. She was jealous that I didn’t come back to talk to her, 2. She’s an overzealous bodyguard who needs to mind her own business or 3. A little bit of both.

At that point, I just ignored her and went over and sat down at the table with the girl on the laptop (apparently, she was just finishing up). Then out of nowhere, the big one with the dog comes storming over, yelling “What are you doing!! She’s in a meeting!!! Get out of here and go back to work!!!” Then the cashier (older lady) chimes in with her “SIR!! SIR!!” or whatever. Mind you, the girl on the laptop obviously had no problem with me sitting at her table, waiting for her to finish up her zoom call. But hey, I know when I’m not wanted, so I simply got up, said “ Have a nice day” and left.

The sad part is I was actually just minutes from asking the cashier who to contact at her establishment, so that I could have them cater a rather large event (150 people) that I’m throwing for my company. But they can forget that!!! No way!! I sure hope those two customers (whom I imagine are regulars) pay all the bills for this establishment because Norman Love just lost not only my future business but the business of everyone I can tell my story to.

If that’s how they treat people, then I’d rather go to Starbucks. I would stay far away from this place, if I were you. And definitely, DEFINITELY stay away from the pretty girl on the laptop. It ain’t...
