Unfortunately, our project did not go as planned. The owner has threatened legal action based on his contract stating it won’t allow us to write disparaging remarks. So we are simply providing detail so you can make your own judgement. The following are actions that happened throughout our relationship with Epic: Met with owner in February, with a projected start time of mid-June so that our project would have priority and ample staffing. Project was a 1st floor kitchen and bath remodel, including the removal of an interior wall. Projected timeline of about 9 weeks, from June 15-August 20. Owner – Tim Jennings – did not show up on the jobsite once throughout the course of the job. Met with us initially to sell, but never came back after initial consult. Only communicated via phone, and at one point asked that we not email him. Staffing of Epic employees was always changing. We had 3 different job site supervisors throughout our 8 week project, only met 2 in person with another only available via email or phone. Epic changed the permit on our project to another company: Metro Construction and Restoration LLC. When asked why the change was made without notifying us, owner claimed it was common and not an issue. He stated it was because he let his supervisor certificate lapse with Denver and he had to retake an exam. Metro Construction and Restoration had less than credible online and BBB reviews, including failure to pay subs which resulted in liens on the property. Contact info for Metro Construction was not valid, as we were unable to contact the number listed on the job site permit. All job costs are itemized through the contract, and when payment is made the contract serves as a checklist. We asked for an itemized bill each time payment was requested. The owner said his accounting software does not do this. He assured us it would all “even out” in the end. Only detail was pdf copy of an excel spreadsheet. We discussed job costs with the subcontractors and found that Epic was charging 70% above cost in some instances. Draw payment invoices include verbiage noting that Epic will credit your contract for providing favorable reviews. They pay for their customers to post good reviews! Multiple days would go by with no one on site and no call as to what was progressing. Was told it was common because of the demand for subcontractors. Epic would not install appliances in the kitchen – microwave, refrigerator, garbage disposal, gas range. Owner stated it was not in the contract. HVAC company threatened a lien on our property due to non-payment from Epic. Epic terminated the contract with us via email. No phone call or in person discussion was attempted. Termination was due to “unfounded inquiries about each draw request, the unwillingness to accept the extended contract time in correlation with the contract specifications and change order increases.” The owner left the job incomplete, and the following damage remained: missing house tools, ripped and stained carpet, broken fence, paint and plaster splatter on walls, contractor tools throughout the house.

Read moreWe were introduced to Tim Jennings and Epic Remodeling through our mortgage broker. After speaking to several contractors about our remodel project, we were still looking for someone that we wanted to work with. From our first meeting with Tim through the final end of the project, we couldn’t have asked for a better recommendation. Epic Remodeling came in on time and on budget – two of the most important aspects of any construction project.
After choosing Epic Remodeling to work on our remodeling project (which included both a remodel to the existing house and a sizeable addition), we started working with Gable as our project manager. Prior to beginning the construction, we found out that we were adding to our family – something that made completing the project by the estimated date of completion more than just a desire. We spoke with Gable who told us he would do everything possible to make sure we were in our home by the time the new baby got there.
Our project took about four months from start to finish. Throughout the four months, everyone from the initial foundation subcontractors through the painters and carpenter that provided the final touches were great to work with. They all took pride in their work and it showed in the final product. In addition to being good at their trade, they were easy to be around which was a plus as I was at the house regularly to check on the progress.
While I am completely satisfied with my experience working with Epic, this isn’t to say that there weren’t issues that came up. With any project of this size I am doubtful that it ever goes error free. We had one issue with the placement of the furnace exhaust pipes and one with the construction of a wall. With both of these issues, Gable moved to correct the issues quickly and to our satisfaction without any hassle or questions. It was the response to these issues, along with the great job that Epic did on the project, that made the difference and why not only would I recommend Epic Remodeling to everyone, but also hope to be able to use them on our next project myself.
Two weeks before our second child was born, Gable turned over our house to us. The inside had been completely transformed from a small, cramped bungalow to a spacious modern abode. From the details that were done on the tile work to the glean of the hardwood floors, Epic's work was perfect. We couldn’t be happier with the final project and recommend Epic Remodeling without any hesitation. If anyone reading this is thinking about using Epic Remodeling and has any questions about our experience with them, please feel free...
Read moreThis company was a contractor that put a garage on my back neighbors property. At no time prior to construction commencing did they inform nor ask about blocking access to my alley garage access. This was unfortunate because we do not have street parking access in front of our property due to being on a busy street. About 2 weeks before the Christmas holiday they start doing foundation work. He has a sub contractor that he hired and throughout the day they would park in front of my garage. In our first encounter he passed the buck and told me to call them. I typically come and go from my property multiple times per day and this was an absolute nightmare that each time I would leave and return someone would be blocking my garage. I contacted them and asked about their permit information. They did have a permit but they did not follow proper protocols on informing neighbors of a schedule of work prior to permitting or commencing work. During our conversations, Tim accused me saying that "I wouldn't even had read a letter if he would have sent one". His demeanor and attention to detail managing this project to have minimal scheduled impact on neighbors right before a holiday period was poor. His effort to rectify, correct and apologize was also poor. He failed to properly include and inform us denying ROW (*Right of way)access to our property without properly informing prior to commencing work. Later at one point called me a "miserable person" because I was upset that they blocked the alley access during a scheduled delivery for furniture. He said they could have delivered from the front of the house which is 4 lanes with no parking lanes... and during rush hour traffic. I had the delivery scheduled for 6 weeks. He wasn't an above board person to deal with. When I told him about being a disabled vet and that him blocking me from going to appointments during a flair up he seamed to question my disability because I do not have "disabled" veterans plates on my car... they only say "HONORABLELY DISCHARGED VETERAN". He later threatened me with a lawsuit. I made sure to keep all video of the workers blocking my garage, text messages with Tim and recorded all conversations with him during our...
