Last Friday night, my friends and I decided to try out Little India, a restaurant we heard from a friend. From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home and set the perfect stage for what was to come.
We were greeted by Yaphet, the manager, whose knowledge and enthusiasm about the menu were infectious. He guided us through the menu and offered some excellent recommendations that we were excited to try.
We kicked off our meal with a delicious appetizer. The main courses were where Little India truly shines .The Butter Chicken, which turned out to be a rich, creamy delight with tender chicken pieces that were perfectly cooked. The Dal Makhni was another standout, with its creamy texture and flavorful spices that made every bite a joy.
The Chana Dal was wonderfully spiced, providing a hearty and satisfying dish that complemented the other flavors on the table. We also tried the Bharta Makhni, a creamy eggplant dish that was both smoky and rich, adding a unique taste to our meal.
Throughout the evening, Yaphet checked in on us, ensuring everything was to our liking. His personal touch and passion for the cuisine added a special dimension to our dining experience.
Our experience at Little India was unforgettable, thanks not only to the exceptional food but also to the outstanding service provided by Yaphet. His dedication and enthusiasm made our evening truly special.
If you’re in the mood for authentic Indian cuisine in a welcoming setting, Little India is the place to go. Thank you, Yaphet, for an incredible dining experience. We can’t wait...
Read moreI've never been a huge fan of Indian food but recently wanted something warm and they were open till 11. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala which was good but for $19, it's just chicken, rice, and sauce. Not even bread. I've been back and found I also enjoyed the chicken Pakora. The sauces were unexpected and the chicken was well fried that time.
Through all of this experience was what I felt waking in. The employees couldn't be bothered as they sit at the bar on their phones. Not friendly, and otherwise totally disinterested in their surroundings.
I went Monday night as it was snowing hard and figured it sounded comforting. Apparently Amal was working and I had the same experience I've had previously. It sounded like they didn't make the Pakora so I had to wait for them to fire that up. When I arrived home I found they didn't add the two sauces in so I just had sauce-less fried chicken which was hard to eat. I also discovered my Tikka Masala was less than it's usual hot temperature so I had to microwave it. I assume they left it out on the counter while waiting for my chicken Pakora to finish.
I called to see if I could get a discount. The employee just answered "Hello" prompting me to confirm whether I was calling Little India. He told me the system was already closed down and to call the next day. I guess his lazy little fingers were tired from watching videos on his phone so he couldn't take a message and help me out. That might resemble good customer service.
Oh well, at least it wasn't someplace I really...
Read moreIt’s not horrible, but Indian food can be so much better (especially for the price). I’ve gotten food from here three times because I live nearby, and I’ve been disappointed twice. The food usually tastes like it was cooked by someone who has never been to an Indian person’s house. The main ingredients are present in the dish, but it’s bland and the details are often poorly done. I suspect the staff is underpaid, overworked, or not experienced enough. Maybe the rent for the building is too high, maybe they want to make their food healthier by going easy on the ghee, or maybe the owners don’t care because they are still making money. But better food can be found at other Indian restaurants like Spice Room, Taste of India, or even Yak and Yeti. The food at these other restaurants is deeper, more flavorful, and less expensive.
The cocktails are very tasty (the Baileys chai especially) and every staff member is friendly and organized, so the employees are clearly capable, they probably just need better support from ownership/management.
They have good happy hour/cocktail deals and it’s a nice space. I’ve never seen anyone dining in, but they are always busy with takeout.
EDIT: I’ve now been here 5 times and been disappointed 3 times...
