I leave my house in the dark three mornings a week to work out at 6:00am with Rick Gusler… and it’s TOTALLY worth it! I am a woman in my late 40’s who has never been overweight, but I have been “skinny fat” since my 30’s. Being tall and thin does not equal strong and fit. In addition, I broke my tib/fib (which required a titanium rod from my ankle to my knee) and tore an intercostal muscle from my ribcage. These two injuries have been a real exercise obstacle for me… no matter what I tried…yoga, pilates, spinning, etc. Frustrated and feeling in the worst shape every, I decided to find a trainer who would work one-on-one with me to help me get strong and fit, while avoiding re-injury to my leg and rib. Rick Gusler is the man! He designed a custom workout plan for me and we started out very slowly. In the past, I have always had to stop whatever workout I was doing due to the pain in my leg and/or rib that required weeks of rest, then I would start again, and ultimately the pain would return, and so on. This is the only time I have been able to work out continually without pain. Rick knew strengthening my core and quads would help tremendously with my injuries and he was right. My goal was not to lose a bunch of weight, but to get strong and leaner. My jeans started fitting better after two months and I definitely have more energy and confidence. Read moreI began my training sessions with Rick Gusler because I had hit the age of 40 and noticed my weight had been creeping up to an uncomfortable level over the past few years. I am a petite woman, a former high school gymnast, who was voted "best legs" in high school. Turning 40 was a milestone for me, and I wanted to be "fit and fabulous", not " forty and frumpy". Like many, I hold a desk job and besides sitting at my computer for hours on end, I also spend lots of time on my bum in my car and driving my child around to his activities.
