I had always had great experience with Denver Health Primary Care, until recently. I had skin condition i needed help with desperately. I was judged by previous addition and mental health issues and was passed around and never received help i needed. I had to research extensively on google and eventually self diagnose to get care instructions to remedy my aliment. I also had to practically beg for ointments i desperately needed. After 2 appointments which involves me missing work, paying baby sitter, paying for gas for 4 trips (2-2 way trips), insurance paying for to visits, I still never even received not even a single test done or true evaluation!! The doctors looked at me from their chairs and wrote me off because of my history! I've had this experience with multiple ER visits, but expected more from the doctors actually supposed to be helping me. I feel like doctors these days do as little as possible, watch the bottom line by avoiding any testing that may cost their office something, push referrals to avoid treating you, het as many appointments on books as possible to keep their pockets lined with insurance and co pays. It is extremely hard to find good doctors these days that aren't judgemental and close minded. Their oath is DO NO HARM, it should also be DO NOT JUDGE!! I feel strongly about this and wonder how many people are not getting treatment and help they need because of reasons i listed and more i havent listed?? I would like to try to advocate for those in my position and encourage others with similar kind of experience to speak out. I will speak out today and hope for some kind of change, but i wont hold my breath. Ive noticed so many doctors turn cold to is that need help after Perdue Pharma Opioid Crisis! ( I have lawsuit in works and pray its settled accordingly, as hundreds of thousands are across country I'm sure!) I plan to ho back yo school to get into some sort of CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor) to try to make some sort of difference or change. I do have an amazing doctor at this practice! I hope this post doesnt change the EXCELLENT care i DO receive from this office!! Like i said its extremely hard to find good doctors that actually listen, care and help. I am Greatful for her and her help these last few years! I don't plan on changing anything with her care or status as my Doctor! So dont take this post as someone complaining just to do so, i NEVER have left negative google comment for any business i have encountered. I just hope that these doctors and many more Nationwide might look at these patients a little differently, take them seriously and give them care they need. They could miss something and someone else could be neglected and labeled and could have a more serious outcome! Please understand that Doctors gave MOST of us the drugs that ruined our lives and left us were we are today, most under ground, called home. Those of us still alive are lucky to still be here! And DESERVE respect, attention and the care we...
Read moreOne of the worst medical visits I had for my baby. We had to switch to a new network and for some reason we were placed in Denver Health.
Commute takes 40 minutes to the closest in network facility. Transferred history record two weeks in advance and had to message them to make sure the account was updated prior to the appt. Went to the facility: Lines for the elevator. Went for a regular 6 month check up for baby. A 20 minute appointment took about 1.5-2 hours. The provider was late, things moved slow. My baby only got 3 out 4 vaccines because the 4th one expired. Therefore I was told we have to bring her in to the 2nd floor for immunizations. I requested if the could have the vaccine sent up since our commute is really long. Instead, no understanding, we were still sent to the second floor. Went to the immunization floor and made an appointment for the same week, Thursday. On Thursday, we got there early with my 6 month old. They happened to have a planned fire drill for our scheduled appointment time. After it was finished, it took forever to check in because of long lines for the elevator.
My daughter refused to eat after each visit from all the stress. She is a very well tempered baby and never had this reaction to her previous visits with her previous primary care. From the first visit, one of the medical assistants caused bruising and more than normal bleeding from an injection site. Total time spent from commuting and the appointments was probably 7-8 hours total. It's ridiculous and a waste of resources and time. There are so many questions to why this simple appointment became two visits. Questions: Why is no one checking to see if vaccines are expired? Why are they not ready for simple regular/preventative appointments? Why was there no ability to bring up a vaccine from the vaccine department in this circumstance?
Also, facility needs to be taken care of too. The bathroom had no soap in the dispenser. The sanitizer dispensers are all empty too. I literally tried to use five. Finally found one that worked. I would hope a hospital would...
Read moreI have been with Denver Health for 40 years and for the most part have received great service 99% of the time. Dr Alfonsi is a great doctor been her patient for 38 years. She is very easy to talk to and listens to my concerns with care. Another doctor I saw today 4-13-23 was Dr Ziegler. He was so nice and answered all my questions before and after my procedure. (Oh, I was on the board for the neighborhood clinics when Denver Health was still known as Denver General). The 1% was a visit to the ED with serve lower back pain and legs. I have rods in my spine due to Spinal stenosis. The resident that came to see me after waiting 30 mins said lots of people use back pain to get opiods. I explained I wasn't there for drugs since I had weaned myself off the opiods my pain management dr had me on 3 1/2 years prior. I wanted them to take a CT scan or MRI to see if my rods were in proper order. She said I needed to go see my spine doctor. She offered me 2 Tylenol and I refused them because I had Tylenol in my purse and took my own and told them I shouldn't get charged for them. I had waited 3 hours and my blood sugar was dropping. So I asked if they had anything to help with the drop. She said no that I should get my discharge papers soon. Another 45 minutes passed. Some of the residents should be given a class on bed side manner. Ended going home with no help and still in pain. But they sure did take my co-pay out of my account even...
