Second Wind Sports — Local services in Denver

The way I feel about this store is similar to how I feel about Costco. Read on for my explanation. Or don’t.

My kids (10 and 8) had recently fallen in love with indoor rock climbing and being the frugal father I am, I wasn’t about to pay retail for climbing gear they would outgrow in a year. Enter second wind sports.

So we walk in the door and the lady at the counter was lovely. I appreciated the consignment model indicating they sift through lower quality goods and only sell higher quality. It takes the guess work away. But here’s the crazy part!

Were we able to find some good climbing gear at an affordable price? Yes and no. Couldn’t find the shoe size we needed but we did come away with a great climbing harness for $26. Total steal. But did we also walk away with a North Face backpack, a Patagonia pullover, a Columbia wind breaker, a pair of Lululemon yoga pants! and a North Face ski jacket?!?!?! Yes we did. And how much did we pay for all these name brand items? $232. Just like when I go to Costco for a bag of broccoli and a rotisserie chicken and somehow walk away with $200 worth food. SMH.

Will I be back in a couple weeks to get ski clothes for...

1000/10 experience! I’m new to skiing and Charlie, the owner helped me find the right size for me and the beginner skis were only $100! He helped me make sure my ski boots fit right also my ski poles. I also got a nice ski bag for all my gear. I even came away with some sick almost new Chacos for a low price. This place is awesome! They have everything an outdoorsy person could need! I wanna come back and get some rollerblades, ice skates and bike shoes! Huge ski selection, poles, boots, a section for rock climbing gear, snowshoes, hiking boots, tons of nice outdoorsy apparel and great brands. If you’re like me and want to do all the outdoor hobbies but at a low price, this place has all you’d need! Sending all my friends this way! Love the shop and Charlie...

Wow, 10/10 service from the owner, Charlie. I called about camping gear, and he was quick to offer up quotes on what he had available and what I would need for my trip. Upon arrival, Charlie greeted me with a warm hello and wonderful customer service. While in the shop, I found a wonderful bike, and Charlie went ABOVE and BEYOND for me by getting the rim and tire replaced so that whenever I came to pick the bike up, it was ready to ride. I cannot thank Charlie enough for being genuine and honest with me about what I would need for my trip. I will recommend all friends, family, and strangers to Second Wind Sports for all outdoor needs. They had plenty of good used ski gear, so I will be keeping my eye on their wares in the future.
