Rereading a favorite novel! That is how I feel about this restaurant. I have lived in Denver for 21 years now and for many of those years ate dinner at Taste of Thailand [ mostly when it was aross from Swedish Hosptal on Old Hampden ] which has the best Thai in Denver. A new to Denver, artist in my art studio building told me what he thought was the best Thai in Denver yesterday, so I had to introduce him to my favorite. I had such a good meal and feeling of nostalgia, that I met my sons there for dinner the night afterwards. We re-committed to makiing this "one of our places" again. They are out of the nest, starting out on thier own, so GREAT food at a good value is important. Our Favs: Tom Kha Gai [soup] StIckey Rice Steamed DumplinGs, Som Tum [Green Papaya Salad] Drunken Noodles [ Beef] Pad Thai [ the normal one w/ Chix/shrimp/tofu] and thank goodness I did not know about Mango Sticky Rice dessert until 2019! "flu shot soup" to go whenever you are sick, or when you are there, orde one to go so you can stash it in your freezer :) to have on...
Read moreI was really was looking forward to this place and chose it from some friends recommendation on my birthday. The atmosphere was clean and cheaper on the decor side. Who cares about decorations though right, it all about the food. Unfortunately, I have had much better meals at other Thai restaurants. The ingredients didn't seem very fresh and the overall seasoning was not what I would expect from traditional Thai food. 'Hot' as a spice level was very light and under whelming. Fixable with a traditional Hot Tray offered at almost every Thai place I have ever eaten. A Hot Tray is just a small selection of different sauces and spices offered on the side of your meal. Kinda like salt and pepper shakers in American restaurants. I was disappointed that there was no Hot Tray offered at this restaurant. Really nothing other than soy or sriracha was around for additional flavor. The staff was nice enough and all but I would not recommend Taste of Thailand if you are at all versed in Thai food in general. I won't...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 10 stars. This is not your average Thai restaurant. This is the most soulful Thai restaurant, owned by avid gardeners, poets, and storytellers who also happen to make the most beautiful food. Eating here feels like stepping into someone’s home and being fed something that your friend’s family spent all day cooking just for you. The tables have beautiful little stories and anecdotes about their history in Colorado, the menu has short haikus, they serve produce from their own garden and feature menu items highlighting local Colorado produce such as Palisade peaches and Pueblo chiles. There is something for everyone, the menu features extensive options ranging from regional home style cooking to American Thai favorites. Eating here is truly, truly special. Best papaya salad I’ve ever had! Also make sure to stop by their small little free gardening supply station to support local gardeners, next to the wall of photos featuring their garlic harvest....
