Ordered two wedding samplers from this bakery earlier this month. Due to my partner's almond allergy, I requested the one slice with almonds be clearly labelled. When I went to pick up, the woman who helped me quickly showed me the inside of the box before closing it up. I noticed that the flavors were labelled on the top of the box but wanted to be sure about which row of cake slices corresponded to the top and bottom labels. When she brought the second box out I used that as an opportunity to ask and she told me the top labels referred to the front row of cake slices. She then paused and said all except the last label as she had mislabeled it and those two slices were flipped. I asked her if the other box, the one containing the almond cake, were all labelled correctly and reminded her of his allergy. I honestly thought they would pack that piece separately, but it's fine as his allergy produces itching and hives not death. Anyway, she assured me that it was all labelled correctly in that box. I took it home and later found that some of the slices in that box were mixed up as well. He ended up not being able to sample any of the flavors from the box containing the almond cake for safety.
As far as the cake went, it was fine. Nothing special. The texture was good, cake was moist, but the flavors were so basic. We had 12 different flavors in total and none of them were anything exciting. Chocolate, vanilla, marble, dolce de leche in both vanilla and chocolate, funfetti (who orders funfetti for their wedding??), etc. All of the icing was vanilla or chocolate buttercream and cream cheese. Fillings were lemon and raspberry. I knew this ahead of time but I guess I was expecting them to be a little more exciting? They tasted like box cakes and can frosting. It's 2024, mix up the flavors a little. Have some selections with lavender, basil, ginger, whisky, rosemary, orange, etc. Heck, there wasn't even red velvet or carrot but somehow funfetti made the cut? I thought for such basic cakes, the flavor would be amazing but it really was nothing special. Like Sunday...
Read moreI ordered a special lemon cake with lemon curd filling for my moms 80th bday. It was supposed to have peach colored roses with green writing. I got there to pick it up and the roses were bright orange and. The writing was also bright orange. After arguing with me and being extremely rude to me about the difference between orange and peach- I insisted they scape the cake and decorate it like I had wanted it. I waited about an hour to get this done. The cake was just OK looking. I thought I’d get a cake that looked like a professional with artistic talent decorated it. I could have bought a prettier looking cake at King Soopers. Then they did not have a big enough box to out my 1/4 sheet cake in. I got a box that wouldn’t close because the cake was too big for it. The decorator was irritated and rude when I requested some Saran Wrap to cover the top of the cake. I got the Saran Wrap and just wanted to leave. I thought “oh well the cake doesn’t look very pretty but it’ll taste great! We’ll much to my dismay and the dismay of all of the party guests including my 80 year old mom- the lemon cake was very dry and there was so little lemon curd filling that we all thought they forgot to put it in between the layers. I did find a tiny thin area on l’art of the cake that looked like maybe there was curd in it. Finally, I had ordered buttercream frosting on the cake, and the frosting we got was more like whipped cream. It was definitely not buttercream. Totally flavorless frosting. I paid $100 for this cake and simply couldn’t have been anymore disappointed with the cake itself or the terrible customer service I received. I will never buy another cake from this bakery and I’ll make sure none of my friends do either. I hope that nobody reading this buys a cake at this bakery. Who knows what you’ll get and how you’ll be treated. My mom only turned 80 once and I wanted her to have a very special cake. These people ruined it. Avoid...
Read moreTo start with the positive side, if you want the most delicious cakes in Denver, Azucar is the answer. The cake tasting was amazing...and difficult to choose the best tasting option. The tasting appointment went smooth. My mother-in-law used them as well for a 2 Grooms Cakes at the rehearsal dinner & welcome party, it was the cutest caking cake with great detail. Both our wedding cake & grooms cakes tasted excellent. However, when it came to our wedding cake, a picture of purple mountains from light to dark purple was provided and attached to the contract and our contract stated "following coloring of attached photo".....yet our wedding cake was delivered with all blue mountains. Thankfully for Azucar, I had been told by several of our vendors that I was one of the more chill brides they had the pleasure of working with and when it was delivered, I'm no bridezilla and it was what it was at that point, however that shouldn't downplay the fact that we were disappointed since the theme of my wedding was all purple and that cake was the only bit of blue at the wedding. I received an email during our honeymoon requesting the tree stump be returned as it was late, and I informed them that it was returned to some staff in the back 2 days after the wedding, and at this point I informed Josie of the incorrect color situation. She said that she was going to pass this information off to the owner so he can be in contact but it has been a week and we haven't heard anything just to make them aware of the situation. A little disappointed that no one ever reached out to apologize... Again, delicious cakes and our grooms cakes were beautifully done which I...
