I was a real fan of JCPenney, but probably will never visit again this store after today's horrible experience. I bought two champion pants for men today and in the display it was written 25% off on stated price. When I went for check out in the counter, service provider said it is fixed price. When I asked for the discount the lady told me whether I can show her where it is written that the pants are in discount price. She really went with me to see whether I was lying her or not. Then when I showed her the flag over the hanger I got those pants, where it was written 25% off on champion brand, she told me that I can't get that discount because my pants price are not in display. Because, in the flag there were 5 displayed reference price and there 25% discount price and unfortunately my chosen pants price are not exactly same with the displayed reference price, I was not eligible to get that discount. Hah hah ha, what a nonsense explanation....But as I wasted my valuable time to find those pants, I just bought them and promised myself not to visit again that shop. I'm sure coustomers really expect better service and behavior from the service providers than what I got today...
Read moreI am considering buying JCP stock and visited one of the St. Louis area stores this afternoon located at West County Center. This is a "high rent" district in the St. Louis area. I asked several employees how they liked working for JC Penney and received very positive feedback. One even mentioned the new CEO and told me that he can sense a new attitude within the company. But what I observed was a very happy workforce. It is a very large store and the first floor was was abuzz with activity for a Thursday morning at 11am. Slightly unorganized, but I could sense activity and change in the air. The upstairs was less active and I think had housed the appliance and home furnishings at some point. It was not a "ghost town" but it did feel very "lonely" and sparse up there. I am a super frugal person and JC Penney did get me to part with $12 for a nice pair of orange shorts which were on clearance. I had not set foot in a JC Penney for 20 years, but I would go back. My best takeaway from the visit would be the people. Those I asked directly, those who assisted me with my shopping and those I just observed....they all seemed very happy...
Read moreI really like Penney's, they have a good selection and good prices, even though like everyone else there's not enough help. However, a recent experience ordering made me think I never want to order anything again. I ordered two pairs of men's shorts that were supposed to be shipped to the store. That was on July 2nd. Two weeks later I'm still waiting and have heard nothing. I called the store once, and they said that they would check into it and get back to me. Didn't hear anything, so I finally just went over to the store to see if they had any in the store. Turns out they had a table full of them. I went ahead and bought two pair, though they're $6 more each than they were online. Called again, asking if I could just get a price adjustment, but she told me I have to go to the store to do that. No one ever told me why on earth they didn't ship them to the store, but it's been annoying and I could have had them all along. I'm usually not an online shopper anyway, not sure why I ordered them but I guess it was because of the sale. I'm thinking I probably won't...
