If you value the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and your pets, please do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible. This is the worst place I have ever lived, and I've lived in a shared house without any heating or cooling. If negative stars were an option I would have used those for my rating. The entire time I have lived here it has been nothing but issues here. First off, whenever I moved into my apartment it was unfinished there was a hole in the wall leaking water, the bathtub was not properly caulked, and people were working on the unit for about a couple weeks after I moved in. The toilet wasn't working properly as well for a while... There was also mold and cigarette tar on the bathroom ceiling which has never been addressed. Additionally, the apartment is poorly put together. There are places where drywall isn't sanded down, the walls are cracking/not attached at certain places, and paint is chipping on the walls and radiators. My old roommate had water damage within her room and it wasn't addressed for a week. The crack within the ceiling is still there to. Within our unit, there was also no internet hookup and they had somebody drill into the wall to set it up. To make things worse, they do not care about their tenets at all. I went several weeks without any heat in the dead of winter. Originally i was brushed off by staff saying the boiler wasn't on, but when they looked into it the radiator in my unit was clogged and was the wrong size. This wasn't fixed until I brought up the law regarding heating during the winter. When it was fixed, staff did not clean up the mess and left sludge/residue on our carpet. They also do not take out the trash regularly; I've had other tenets comment on the smell on their floor and ask me if it was an issue on mine. And yes, there are pest rampant throughout this place. Bed bugs, roaches, you name it. Pest control is here twice a week if that tells you anything... Property management downplays this and will tell you it isn't the bad, but there are roaches larger than my thumb at this place. I've had to throw away mattress, bedding, and items due to the infestation. The only thing good about this place is most of the other tenets and the front desk staff. The front desk is hit or miss at times too. I've had to wait several hours, if not days to get a package because nobody is there. I don't expect 24/7 staff, but I shouldn't have to wait days to get a package. Besides that, there's nothing good about this place, I've never felt more disrespected and ignored by management than here. Do yourself a favor, and pay the extra hundred dollars to live elsewhere; it will save you so much money, time, and stress in the long run. I'm moving out in less than a week and I'm so glad to be out. Keep yourself and your loved ones safe by not living here.
UPDATE: My experience with the staff here has only worsened. During my move out day, my partner had gotten into an argument with one of the managers. Whenever I went down to resolve the issue, they told me she did not ask them to speak to them separately and she threatened to hit them. After speaking to my partner, she said she had asked them to step into a separate hallway to speak and that she had only threatened to report them to the housing board due to unsanitary conditions. Due to this place's track record, and my trust in my partner, I'm inclined to say they were lying, which is awful. Unless you want to be further scammed and lied to, don't rent here. They have no respect...
Read moreI LOVE my New Cadillac Square apartment.
I've lived in the building for over a year now and plan to renew my lease for a second time (at least) when the opportunity comes.
I find the management to be great, the team that's ALWAYS at the front door to greet tenants and safely let them up is warm. I'm always greeted by name and the same can be said for many others as people move into the building to stay. Any maintenance issue or complaint has been handled VERY promptly.
This building is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown. Given the price, included amenities, and proximity to endless things to do - you can't beat it.
I feel that any negative review stems from people not knowing what they're getting into. Living in a big city and big building will surely mean there will be loud nights and times of high activity. Loitering isn't tolerated outside the building and management and whoever is on duty at the front desk keeps close tabs on the street and any potential issues by getting police involved when necessary.
Cadillac Square is a great community in the center of a great city. I recommend it to anyone looking to live in Detroit.
For any skeptics of living in the middle of the city in general, I grew up in a quiet suburb and feel safe and am very happy with my setup with...
Read moreI truly think it's a terrible place to live at. Very dangerous inside and out. people are always loitering in front of the building 24/7, we woke up one morning and found racist graffiti in the hall way. it took them more than 5 weeks to fix my fridge. The hallways are not ventilated, so it smells really bad. The storm and sanitary pipes get flooded when it rains so the elevators smells reeeeaally bad. Most of the laundry machines are not working so you literally have to stay in line. the windows are so dirty that stop the view, probably never been cleaned from the outside in decades. The only advantage of this place is its right downtown and the price is just alright. and finally the Parking is just TERRIBLE!!!! holes everywhere, it doesn't get cleaned from snow, and water is just Everywhere!! If you ever think of buying nice shoes, just forget about it because they'll...
