I work downtown and have patronize these people quite often and I will never in life nor anyone close to me will ever patronize them again. So, here goes the factual story of why, during a lunch hour my co-workers and I decided we will order from them. The male co worker called to place the order, he placed my friend order because I told him I wld place my own because I had special request, so after placing the first half of the order he told the lady on the ph it is a 2 part order, I got on the ph and continued to place my order. I asked for a egg with onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese and mayo sandwich. She asked me did I still want the first sandwich I said yes and proceeded to explain my order again. I heard her call her husband name so he was not standing there(this statement will come full circle at the end). Me and my friend go get the food, we get back to the office he gives us 2 of the same sandwiches which was sausage, egg, cheese, on wheat, when originally we asked for that sandwich to be on white but whatever, smh...now read what I ordered, first off I do not eat pork sausages. Anyway I called to rectify the situation they delivered me my sandwich. I gave them back the extra sandwich. Here's the kicker hours later while I'm at home i get a phone call from the ham shop, its the wife calling me to say are you the lady that ordered the sandwich, I said yes she said well Sal wanted me to call you and tell u he was standing right there when u ordered and u asked for the first sandwich. Im totally flabbergasted and to make this long story short he dont want you to order from us anymore and proceeded to say he said why was she looking at me that way. She kept saying I know I know but he wanted me to call, so of course I don't give a f**k about giving them my money. I pretty sure she wld have been abused if she didn't call because she know i ordered that. I have watch him verbally abuse her and the daughter stay mad. oh btw if you were standing there why did she call ur name from afar. They get no star and b4 all this the food was only about a 5 and a 4...
Read moreOnce upon a time, when I was employed with Quicken Loans, I was enamored with their Chicken & Waffles. I had never experienced the dish before coming to the Ham Café, but once I indulged, I was hooked. Well, a lot has changed in 3 years :-(
I had relocated and had not eaten there for about 3 years. While treating a relative out for brunch, I witness the worst customer service on that visit. We had to secure our own menu and it took a few minutes to even be greeted by the server. Our server was drab, listless and lethargic.
Once we received our dine-in order, we were still short by one cutlery set and a straw. The waffles were cold, so cold till the spreadable butter would not melt and when the wings finally arrived (5 minutes later ), they were not prepared as requested. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles for a reason, as I'd like to eat them together. My niece shared the same sentiment regarding the cold waffles, and neither one of us received the heated syrup we had originally requested. Not to mention, to my recollection, the waffles were garnished with strawberry sauce and whipped cream.
I called the server over to express our concerns with the appearance and condition of our meals, and she quickly suggested that we converse with her manager. Well, unbeknownst to me, the manager is the same person that cooks the food in the restaurant. To say the least, the manager/cook was argumentative and unprofessional. He did not greet us when he approached to table and didn't not offer any type of resolve nor apology. He uttered something to the effect of "the waffles are delivered frozen...", and I couldn't tolerate another word. He then begins to snatch the plates from the table and continued to muddle underneath his breath.
Well, I never argue and I refute to indulge in a dispute over my palate. If the food doesn't appeal the first go around, the second time might not be a charm either. My niece and myself politely walked out of their establishment and agreed to never patron the Ham Café...
Read moreMy husband and I eat there almost every Sunday before Lions games. we are an interracial couple. We have always had great service but not today. Two waitress were working, one white and one black. The black waitress made us wait longer than everyone else for everything. She gave a group of three white people their menus and didnt even look at us and we right next to them at. we waited for 20 minutes before we asked the other waitress for a menu. If everyone one in your group was all the same white or black you got fast service from her but not us. We had to ask the other waitress for menus. We she eventually took our order, I asked for pop and water. She brought the pop never the water. She stayed that she would bring it and then proceeded to bring water to other people. My husband had to ask her to bring it and it still waited.. We watched people who arrived after us get there food before us. the family that arrived after us was all black. We were at the restaurant at least 10 minutes before they even got there. Over all this is the worst that we setvice we have ever received since we started dating and eating in a predominantly white area. We always get really good service here. Not today, if we come back and she is our waitress we just leave. In the end it is her loss we always tip really good sometimes up to 100% if the service...
