Was here for a friend's birthday last night and the best thing about this restaurant were the cocktails and the service. We eat out as a group A LOT, so we're always trying new restaurants and this one fell completely flat when it came to the food. We waited well over an hour for dinner. When dinner finally came everything was either undercooked, cold, burnt or unseasoned. And when I say burnt, not seared, charred. The prices are much too high for the low quality and cheap presentation. We ordered: Wagyu meatballs - not fresh, not hot, has been sitting in whatever gravy it was served with for several hours and reheated. $23. 0 stars. Smoked Spicy Candied Bacon- 3 slices of pre-cooked bacon with brown sugar and red pepper flakes, reheated with a home depot torch at the table. $16. 1 star. Steakbites with mushrooms - cold, mushroom pieces were bigger than the 5 steakbites. $20+. 1 star. Crabcake "remoulaude" - cold. After biting into shell twice, I just stopped eating it. Citrus asparagus - cold, burnt to charred, not salted. 4 stalks for $9. 0 stars. Garlic herbed mashed potatoes. Luke warm, not seasoned, not even with garlic lol. The parsley on top was trying. Im still laughing at the gi-normous box of flavored salts they brought out when I asked for salt and pepper. And it looked to be served in a steel measuring cup. $ 10. 1 star. Miller Farms Chicken - the 2 smallest pieces of chicken ever, maybe a tablespoon of vegetables, and a dead flower as garnishment. $36. 0 stars. We sent one back because no. Sea scallops. So we had two orders of these. Again with the dead flower garnish. The first set of scallops were tiny, burnt and cold. The second order, the scallops were huge, undercooked, like inside still pink and cold, with the dead flower garnish. $48. 0 stars. Inedible. Angus Steak - it was for a 10 year old who requested it to be well done. It wasnt seared properly and was RARE on the inside. $48. 0 stars. Inedible. Berkshire Porkchop. The only thing at the table that was eaten in entirety. Still was not served hot and was literally JUST the porkchop. $50. 3 stars. Last but not least that $115 lobster mac n cheese. Jesus fix it. Again with the Dead flower garnish. Mac n cheese was completely unseasoned. I mean no salt, no pepper, no old bay, nothing. The lobster wasn't IN the mac, it was a burnt and charred tiny lobster tail hooked to the side of the bowl. To be charging $115 for it is insane. We thought given the description of "baked JUMBO" and the PRICE, it was sharing size, but alas, no. It was a regular pasta bowl with no bake on top. $115. Laughable. 0 stars. The gnats and flies arrived with our appetizers. The waitstaff deserve better. The manager wouldn't even come to our table, which is something Ive but seen before. But given the food, I understand. We paid for our drinks and was offered a free dining experience and also free dessert, we declined. We arrived at 7:30 did not get dinner until almost 10. 0/10 do...
Read moreMy wife and I came in to celebrate our anniversary. I made my reservation several weeks in advance since this was a newer restaurant downtown and had been popular when it was over on Livernois.
We were both surprised to walk in and find the restaurant empty other than one seated table in the back area.
One thing I noticed right away after we were seated is that there were these little gnats that were flying around and would constantly buzz around in front of our faces. I saw a previous review that noted this and was disappointed to have that same experience of swatting gnats away while trying to enjoy a nice evening.
We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller appetizer which was absolutely delicious! We also ordered the Parker House Rolls which were good.
For main entrees, I ordered the Dry Aged Ribeye and my wife ordered the Pan Fried Branzino. The fish was decent, but left much to be desired as far as taste, the presentation was nice. The Ribeye was tasty but also somewhat fatty and a bit overcooked. I ordered it medium. It was was more med-well. It was served with a small cup of sautéed vegetables on the side and mashed potatoes. The vegetables were good. The potatoes were rather dry.
For dessert, we ordered the peach cobbler. It was more of a berry cobbler and came with a little dollop of vanilla ice cream that we shared. It’s hard to explain but, we did not enjoy it like you would hope to enjoy a peach cobbler at this restaurant.
One other thing, and this may seem small, but important in my opinion. When I initially made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating anything special. I said “yes, it was our anniversary”. While at the restaurant, neither the hostess nor the server made mention of it. While speaking to the server, I casually mentioned it as well, but he never wished us a happy anniversary. This is a small thing but when dining out at a “fine dining” establishment, it’s those little things that go a long way in separating yourself from those that provide a mediocre customer experience and those who provide a stellar or personalized customer experience.
As a reference point, the total bill was $260.
Overall, we were disappointed in our evening at Table No. 2. The service was good, but the food and overall experience was far from what I would think of as fine dining. We left feeling kind of taken advantage of. It’s disappointing because we were looking forward to a special experience and felt let down. We pondered if we would have had a better experience at one of the other fine dining establishments in the area. We chose Table No. 2 based off of its good previous reputation and experience.
I would never try to discourage people from dining at the restaurant, your experience may be much better than ours was. However, based on our personal experience, we do not...
Read moreUnfortunately Table No. 2 fell short of expectations. We arrived at 6:45 for our reservation and one other couple was waiting to be seated for their reservation. The hostess seemed very confused with the system and she took several minutes to figure out the computer rather than seating us and coming back to assign the table.
The interior of the restaurant has about 12 tables plus patio seating. Unfortunately we were seated with an empty table beside us but there was not sufficient room for the staff of other guests to get to the table and no alternate route- resulting in getting bumped multiple times as people tried to squeeze behind me despite having my chair pulled in tightly against the table. The overall atmosphere nothing remarkable. Our server was very friendly and polite; overall service was good if somewhat unpolished (bus boy took has to be told by the server to clear dishes and refill water which isn't what I would expect for a "fine dining" restaurant).
We started our dinner with the calamari. The calamari was served over a bed of greens dressed in moscato butter and the breeding was light and crispy. However, there was no sauce on the actual calamari or side and it left us wanting.
We ordered the table side caesar salad and it was the highlight of our meal. It was bright and nicely balanced. However, the table side portion of this restaurant is extremely underwhelming. We observed two table side dishes (caesar and lobster bisque). The table side caesar consisted of pouring pre-made dressing, squeezing half a lemon, adding cheese and tossing before plating with tortilla wedges. While it was assembled table side and nothing more. Similarly, a table next to us ordered the table side lobster bisque- they took a torch to a glass bulb and heated it before pouring it into a bowl.
For entrees my husband ordered the walleye and I ordered the surf and turf burger. My husband enjoyed the walleye. It was fresh and nicely done. Unfortunately my burger, while appearing promising on the menu, was underwhelming. The meat itself was over done resulting in a dry burger (ordered medium and came well) and while the two shrimp and lobster meat were good on their own it proved very difficult to eat.
We ordered the table side bananas foster for dessert. The dish was made with white rum instead of dark and the bananas weren't left in long enough to caramelize so it ended up being vanilla ice cream with warm bananas and none of the delicious brown sugar/dark rum syrup I would normally expect. It was topped with cinnamon dough sticks which added a nice bit of crunch.
All in all, we were underwhelmed with the...
