I have been with Henry Ford Hospital for years. I love my doctors. They treat me like a person and not a patient. My problem with Henry Ford is their billing policy. I am on Medicare and I receive Social Security Disability Income totaling $1300 a month. Medicare pay their portion of my medical bills and I pay the balance. I do not qualify for full Medicaid. I am on a spend down with Medicaid. I never meet the $850 spend down amount in one month. I see various doctors including my pain doctor. Because I am on a fixed income I had to get on a Henry Ford Payment Plan to keep up with paying my medical bills. Every time I got a new medical bill my payment plan amount increased. For your information you can not get a payment plan if your bill is just $195. They do not care if you are disabled or on a fixed income. My bill exceeded a little over a thousand dollars. I did not qualify for a hardship with Henry Ford. I could not keep up with the payments. I let it go to collections to qualify for a hardship to pay the least a mount until the debt is paid. I am paying every month. Yet Henry Ford put a restriction on my account to not let me see my doctors until the debt is paid. MyChart shows I am paying each month. Why, can't I see my doctors if I am paying each month. I called Henry Ford billing and they told me to call Collections to remove the restriction knowing I am paying. Collections say yes you are paying each month, yes you qualified for the hardship payment but you have to call Henry Ford to remove restrictions to see your doctors. Again I am receiving Social Security Disability, paying them every month through collections, qualified for a hardship amount to pay each month and I still can't see my doctors. I am disabled! Really Henry Ford You Have To Do Better Assisting The Disabled And Senior Citizens With Fixed Incomes When It Comes To Them Paying Their Medical Bills. IF WE ARE PAYING OUR MEDICAL BILLS EACH MONTH THROUGH YOU OR A COLLECTION AGENCY WE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SEE OUR DOCTORS! EVERYBODY CAN NOT AFFORD YOUR STRICT...
Read moreWhen my wife and I thought that she was pregnant, we were cautiously excited. We went to the doctor to confirm it, as we were instructed by the registered nurse who we spoke with on the phone. She told us that they would do a blood test to confirm and probably follow up with a dating ultrasound to determine how far along my wife was. After a two hour wait at the office a different nurse gave my wife a urinary pregnancy test, like we'd already done at home, said "yup, you're pregnant" and sent us off without even seeing the doctor. That cost over $100 even after our insurance picked up the bulk of the tab. Then the dating ultrasound, wherin one technician used the external sensor "because we won't be able to see anything, but we might as well take a look" for about ten seconds and then she switched to the internal one wherein we excitedly saw the beginnings of our baby. For that ultrasound, Henry Ford billed my insurance for over $1200. $200 apiece for using each of the tools, and $350 apiece to supposedly have a radiologist review both sets of images. We contested the charges, and six months later were told that they'd been found to be valid, even after our personal doctor and the the R.N. told us that they thought the radiology lab had just done extra services to charge us for them. We switched from Henry Ford immediately to Beaumont where we've been treated extremely well. I would strongly discourage anyone from using any Henry Ford Health System services. The individuals who work there, the doctors, nurses, and techs may be decent people and decent health care providers, but the system is set up to be exploitative and they will screw you if you give...
Read moreHorrifically bureaucratic. Under supervised residents. Doctors that talk more about themselves than you in a session. Applied for aid twice and even though I provided everything their online application asks for, they keep coming up with random requests, like hand written letters and stuff that holds no substance in terms of qualifying for aid. Reached out and finally had an assigned advocate, who gave me their extension but they never responded. Just really no accountability here and the bills you end up with and the time you've wasted will leave you with more problems than what...
