I lived here for three years. The first two years of my stay were pleasant due to management being kind and attentive. However in the last year, the management has changed and so has the upkeep of the property. The previous manager, Andrew was kind and he did his best to help if he could. The new manager, Steve is not so pleasant. He does not care to hear what you have to say. He also is very conniving and will not follow through with what he discusses with you.
For those of you interested in this apartment for the extra amenities promoted, don’t get your hopes up. There was a new security gate installed however it was measured incorrectly and it’s broken most of the time. The pool that is mentioned to be up and coming is not gonna happen. Neither is the gym that is being promoted. I have heard from management personally, that the company has decided to attempt to rent the pool from the neighboring apartment building and that they will not be building anything new. Also if you’re looking for a two bedroom, look elsewhere! There are only 10 two bedrooms in the entire property. And they have not become available in all of the time that I was living there. Also, if you happen to secure an apartment there, cross your fingers that you don’t live towards the rear of the parking lot. Multiple cars have been broken into in that area. As I was moving, I also noticed there is now a rodent issue in the parking lot. I witnessed rodents on multiple occasions running under my vehicles. It even chewed through one of my car’s hoses causing an expensive repair bill.
Worst of all, once I vacated the premises I did not get my security deposit back. If you are someone who’s thinking about moving from these apartments don’t even get your hopes up that you’re going to get anything back. You will receive an itemized list of trumped up charges. I hate to say this, but the apartment has gone to the dogs. Even with the upgrades, your rent will not be stable. The rate has increased 3 to 4 times in the last few years. I started at $850 and by the time I left I was almost at 1200. While that is low for the area, you cannot be confident that the rent will not eventually match the areas prices. It is sad to say that since the management changed, nothing...
Read moreI truly enjoyed the year we lived here. The newly remodeled apartments were very fashionable and cozy, and the price is unmatched for the value in such a great location. I was sad to have to move, but I needed a larger place and at the time my lease ended, there were no 2 bedrooms available. I miss the neighborhood, the friendly people, the beautiful views of downtown, the large balcony, (where i did yoga and gardening) the nearby parks, the short walks to downtown and the river walk, friendly management...I can go on and on.
Andrew, who is the community manager there is awesome and always ready and willing to help residents. He was also very friendly and attentive to our needs. And whenever there was a maintenance issue, Mohammad was always so kind and came to fix it right away. Living here was a great experience that I will always reminisce about. I also loved that many of the people who lived here had been here for many years, keeping that old Detroit charm intact.
Living here truly is a unique experience that you don't get often. I also felt safe in this community. Now it is located in the heart of downtown of a major city, so be thoughtful about your belongings, because bike and car theft (car parts being stolen) is a possibility. But the gates they recently installed should help prevent that here. I can't recommend this...
Read moreMerely our opinion We have lived here for 4 years and have never had a problem. If ever an issue it is dealt with immediately. Management is top notch and readily available. Maintenance stays on top of their game. It seem that there is alway some sort of upgrade or improvement project happening around here. Things get fixed before you need to complain about them. Rent is fair for what this property has to offer and the energy bill seems reasonable. We could not ask for better neighbors. Everyone is quiet, friendly and people mind their own business. The location is great with or without a vehicle. Bus stop is directly across the street. There is ample parking for both residents and visitors. The parking lot is well lit. We have always felt safe. Laundry facilities are clean and most times available. There is a laundromat a couple blocks away for bigger items or incase of emergency. Water pressure is good and we always have hot water. Tons of cupboard/closet/storage space. Nice big windows {even in basement units} although they are older, drafty and have no screens. The units are carpeted. We wish that they weren't. Overall we both agree that this is great place to live and we would highly recommend...
