I periodically receive emails from the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy with various events that are occurring along the Detroit riverfront and surrounding area. I received an email this past week promoting their Harvest Fest fall festival on The Dequindre Cut. My family and I decided to take a drive to Detroit for what sounded like a fun family event. The email specifically stated that the River East Garage was supposed to provide free parking to guests along with a shuttle to the event (see picture below). My family and I drove 50 miles to come to this event and when we finally arrived at the River East Garage, we were told by the two young security guards employed by prostar security, that if we weren't employees or workers of the festival, we were not allowed to park there. They then pointed to a paid lot that 'we could use'. I pulled up my email and showed them where it clearly states parking was supposed to be free at this garage. They would not budge. Instead we turned around and I drove home as there was no parking available anywhere else. This is the last time we will ever try to attend one of the events from Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, complete waste of time.

The riverfront in Detroit is a beautiful place to go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors. Even in August the walkway wasn't that busy so my girlfriend and I were able to enjoy a peaceful walk right along the river. There are a number of places that you can sit down and relax along the way. The scenery is beautiful and the views of Windsor are amazing! Would love to return with a bicycle and further explore the Detroit Riverfront. Definitely recommend visiting if you're looking for something to do in Detroit during your trip.

Paid over $300 for one night in a room about the size of a closet. Asked during check in if we could keep our vehicle parked there the next day while we went to the auto show. Was told no problem. Next day comes around and we were told we couldn't leave it there. Blankets on the beds felt more like rough curtains than soft blankets. Only really nice thing I can say about the stay was that the entire place was very clean, had a great view from the room, and there was a lot to do close by.

We went on the first day of the river days . the weather was absolutely perfect . The parking sucked and they had absolutely no parking for handicapped . I actually thought that that was illegal . There was plenty of empty room on Jefferson further east but we were told that the cars were being tagged and towed. There should have been handicap parking very close either in with the volunteers were parked or on the street . I was on a cane and my friend actually had to put a scooter together to get there. Absolutely not user-friendly and not everybody could enjoy it . The riverfront is beautiful ! But very difficult to get there in the grounds were very wet so it was very difficult to maneuver why we were there . The food was delicious ! Great idea...
